So instead, they’ll end up in the ER or in a hospital, and taxpayers will pay anyways. Always better to address health issues on the front end (prevention) than on the backend.

Typical indeed. It’s yet another BS heavily-spun argument.
First, if those constituents of his are poor enough to be struggling to put food on the table and can barely afford their health care, they’re getting subsidized, which means they aren’t paying for anyone else’s health care. They are barely covering their own, if at all. The moment they have a serious illness, other people are actually helping to pay for theirs. That’s how the “pooled risk” system works… it’s the nature of that beast. Using this guy’s logic, those poorer people shouldn’t get coverage either.
Second, let’s get this straight. He doesn’t want to give tax credits (for health care) to undocumented people. But, in order to get a tax credit, don’t you actually have to be paying taxes in the first place? And if you are, a) weren’t some of those so-called “federal dollars” contributed by you in the first place, and b) doesn’t that mean you are a productive member of our society, and therefore, maybe we should just work toward finding a way to help make you legal???

Well, I would not be so sure, you dumbass–A month is a long time, and bullshit bills like this one are a dime a dozen. It would not the be the first time a “solemn” promise like this one would be ignored.
He and Ryan both had a good laugh at the thought that the base would buy “I’m bringing up a bill to outlaw something that’s already illegal and would never happen anyway” as an excuse for voting for this crock.
