Discussion: GOP Rep. McMorris Rodgers Denounces Impending Trump Emergency Declaration

We’ll see if any other members of the GOP listen to Rodgers’ rational concerns (which she is expressing only because she’s worried about the future of her party)

There are the Trumptards that believe everything that Trump says, and will support him no matter what, and there are the TrumpTurds that pretend to support the Dotard as long as it advances their own agenda. The TrumpTurds realize that January 2021 is much closer than it appears, Trump will be in his golf course tweeting nonsense and they are going to be left holding the bag, of course if they even make it that far.

And then they will pretend they never backed Trump.

They didn’t listen to her, when they failed to pass the '13 immigration bill, so why should they give ‘two rubs’ now.

Bingo. This is the first of many. I sketched out earlier (as it relates to the Supreme Court) the legal issues with this in respect to republican orthodoxy. My guess is that Trump looses 10 or so republicans in the senate and 30-40 in the house. That will immensely increase the power of the House’s (joined by Schumer and other D’s, and perhaps Rs by name) lawsuit against Trump.

Even the Bernie-haters must acknowledge his value - if nothing else he puts the fear of God in McMorris-Rodgers.

I’m glad to see Cat’s brief brush with sanity resulted in a sensible statement. I look forward to her changing her position faster than Wonder Woman [redacted]; they call it the “Susan Collins.”

Anyone know why CMR was replaced by Cheney as Conference Chairman?

Pandering to the crazy right?

Was she holding her son, Prop, while speaking?

Nothing like the fear that a President Hillary would have put in her.

Why mention Pelosi or Sanders, Cathy? Your man Trump is actually going to do it.

Besides, Your statement implies that you would approve it by a Republican if you could guarantee that Democrats wouldn’t reciprocate. That is a completely self-serving ethic. I guess that’s why there’s an “R” after your name.

She is like the student who gets the correct answer - but makes a total hash out of the “show your work” part. Her motivation is that some future Democratic president could use this approach to do something … even if that something was a good thing…
What EVERYONE should be terrified about is Trump using this approach several more times … each pushing the limits… but… and then using it in a dramatic way that imposes permanent sweeping changes to the structure of the country and indefinitely postpone elections.

To my knowledge, and she’s been my misrepresentative for years, this is the first time I’ve heard her utter anything that didn’t either parrot the party line or ignore reality.

Reality Bites.

So what’s the count at this point? Enough votes to carry a disapproval? Because even if trump vetoes that resolution, the judicial side would be strongly influenced.

She sure knows how to stand behind the leaders though. If there is a camera filming Republicans, she will be standing back there somewhere.
