Discussion for article #241074
This is called the ¨I know you are, but what am I?¨ defense.
Can´t wait to read the dirt on Kirk - my rotten Senator - who´s going down in ´16.
Dear Lord, all the subtle dynamics of a nursery school recess.
Well we are talking about a GOPer here after all so the nursery school recess image seems appropriate.
What is Kirk hiding?
Kirk is telegraphing how damaging this article is. He is going down, article or no, but it is satisfying to watch him squirm.
What a bunch of little crybabies. Get out of politics and make room for some adults.
Yes, he is.
And [mo]Ron Johnson will be joining him.
I can understand claiming that the story is inaccurate (which, of course, the Kirk camp can’t do now since the story hasn’t been released yet), but claiming that the reporter harrassed and intimidated interviewees? That seems a bit unlikely.
I have no idea whether the supposed allegations of the story are true, but it’s interesting that in the last year or so, Kirk has had several verbal over the top outbursts which he was forced to retract or excuse. Is it out of line to question whether something is wrong with him? After-effects of the stroke he suffered a couple of years ago?
Typical GoP plot or ploy. What else is new with these crazies?
I don’t think Kirk is suffering mental issues due to the stroke. He was a sneaky, underhanded, self-serving, lying, bstrd before the stroke and is the same after the stroke.
I’ll lift my coffee to that, EriktheRed. My voting/election power thoughts are with you.
True. For what turned out to be a very short time, Kirk acted as thought he might had opened his mind a bit, showed a lot more empathy (a lot for most GOPers just means they actually started showing any). Too bad. Hope his ass does go down. Same for Johnson of WI.
The senator protests too much, methinks.
You don’t mean pre-empt. If the story were pre-empted, it would not appear. You mean anticipate.
He can’t go down fast enough, far as I’m concerned…
Kirk channels Churchill:
We fear everything, particularly fear itself.

If not a little too structured.
So the allegations, presumably, are that the Senator is physically and verbally abusive towards his employees. Basically, that he’s a bully. And they try to rebut that by, wait for it, bullying a reporter. Not only that, but they can’t even wait for the story to publish! They just have to attack.
Since I haven’t seen evidence one way or the other, I’ll withhold comment except to say a reporter’s got to expect pushback if he calls a pol’s elderly mother.
None of this changes my view of Kirk. He shook my hand and lied to my face when he first ran for Congress. May he drag the rest of the IL-GOP down with him.
