Dear Rep Lewis, it’s only hard for lying morons.
Good to see you back. Hope you are feeling better.
Thank you. I am. Today is a marked improvement because I’m getting my strength back and that feels downright miraculous.
I hope he’s wearing gloves with all this hand wringing.
Poor thang. How on EARTH did such a simpleton get elected? Oh, right- gerrymandered, low-info voters.
Sounds like the congressman is seeing the iceberg and looking for a way out. All the true believers are having to make some hard choices about now. Stay the course and hope the orange stain becomes king or hedge your bets. What to do, what to do?
Jason is in a district trending Dem. It wasn’t quite there in 2016; by 2018 may easily flip blue. Dem candidate? A married lesbian business exec. Jason is first-termer who is feeling the heat. Turn it up, people!
Translation: For a while every piece of poop we flung at the media was dutifully reported and, on FOX, trumpeted to the skies. Somehow, somewhere, someone got a clue and has made our intentional obfuscation the story, and so now people are starting to call us out on flinging poop. So I’m confused, because I’ve got a whole roomful of poop that I’ve been saving, and it stinks, and it will smell even worse in November…
I believe in fairies, Rep. Lewis, which is just about comparable to believing anything from Donald Trump or the GOP! Clap those fucking hands!
Gee, those tiny Trump balls just don’t taste as sweet anymore, do they, Rep. Lewis?
GOP Rep. Laments: 'I Don't Know What To Believe Anymore
1 …Go outside …
2 …Step in pile of dog shit …
3 …Look at bottom of shoe …
This will at least give you some practice —
I could tell him what to believe. Believe those sources which actually issue corrections to their initial stories. A correction indicates a desire to serve the cause of accuracy and accountability.
“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.” ― Philip K. Dick, I Hope I Shall Arrive Soon
“I don’t know,” he said during an interview with Kate Bolduan on CNN Friday. “There have been so many stories on this particular quote, unquote Russia investigation, I don’t know what to believe anymore. We’ll see.”
I am here to help, bro:

I see this as part and parcel of the Repuglican defensive effort: they are tied so firmly to Trump by their base that they cannot do anything but throw chaff and conspiracy theories. This is not simply or even mainly to protect the Mango Maniac, they’re trying to protect themselves.
From expressed skepticism about news reporting to full-blown warrior against the ‘deep state’ (hah!), it all comes to variations on the theme of plausible deniability or at least lack of direct culpability WRT obstruction of justice.
NB: the silver cloud to Trump is not only how sharply he limns the nihilism, corruption, and nativism of the Repuglican party but how susceptible many of our institutions are to subornation or circumvention. This is the sea in which the plutocrats have swum for many years but it took the thrashing about of a careless monster like Trump to reveal the dark nature of the water.
Errata: Michelle Goldberg’s column reminds me that that many evangelical pilot fish have been exposed in the wash as well viz
…the politicized sectors of conservative evangelicalism have been associated with bigotry, selfishness and deception for a long time. Trump has simply revealed the movement’s priorities. It values the preservation of traditional racial and sexual hierarchies over fuzzier notions of wholesomeness.
That’s how I read that comment, too. That nutjob could have outright screamed “Fake news! Fake news!” and yet he didn’t there. That’s his pathetic attempt to find some wiggle room and have it both ways. What an idiot.
I particularly like the “quote, unquote, Russia investigation” part. Condolences.
you know who doesn’t issue corrections? your party leader and lying asshole of a “president”
he doesn’t issue corrections, he lies and then doubles down on the lie or just moves on
and the worst part about with regards to you MR. Republican Rep, is that you (and your entire caucus) have abrogated your responsibility of executive branch oversight for political convenience
you republican fuckers own this, the state of affairs in this country
“I’m inclined to believe those sources, but by the same token, a number of corrections brought forth by members of the mainstream media on the Russian story already, every network, every newspaper had to issue corrections,” he said.
“And that’s why I’m inclined to believe President Trump: He’s got a perfect track record of never issuing a correction throughout his presidency and campaign.”
The RWNs subscribe to the theory that if you don’t like the news make some of your own.
