I just momentarily couldn’t recognize you. A nice avatar!
All that time I spend on the bus going from protest to protest leaves me no time to spend my $1,500 weekly protest check. Thanks Obama…
If it’s any consolation,Jacob got spanked by Lance.
So who ran against him?
This was his 41st Town Hall. That tells me he is an Old School Repuglican. Good. We need them.
That’s why i have this nagging feeling that some of these guys are trying to outrun a storm.
I rather think it is them who have that nagging feeling that they are trying to outrun a storm.
You don’t need to worry about the storm so don’t let it nag you.
K
Thank you for that
if only I thought you were sincere. hahaha
Peter Jacob
Guy’s is a social worker
It’s NJ, after all. They are typically those people who after they retire come out with the title “Former Rep. John Doe (or whatever their names) (R),” feel liberated, and lament about what the GOP has come down to.
And in this past election the Our Revolution guy had an uncontested primary, if I am not mistaken. Not aware of anyone running against him yet. It may well be a rematch between the same guys in 2018.
He’s against the ACA
Now folks aren’t here to be uniform, but still…
That explains a lot.
But you know, my Rep ran unopposed and that isn’t stopping him from being the wortd’s biggest asshole.
@inversion - wasn’t thinking about the ACA. I’m thinking more along the There has to be some kind of way outta here line.
I am
Fingers crossed/ducking
I wish there was a bus. I must have spent an extra $150 driving to protests and events just since Inauguration.
Let me see… does he have a competitive seat?
I watched the livestream of Lance’s townhall. It was held firmly in the R-est part of an R district. It was a large boisterous crowd and every question was a good one that he really had to dig deep to answer. He made news by giving away the game on the ACA repeal–that basically, the only issue is Medicaid at this point. Well, that’s because they want to use per capita caps (Medicaid cuts) to finance their age-based tax credits, and there is infighting between states that took the expansion and now have 90/10 FMAPs to balance 50/50 vs. states that didn’t take the expansion but probably already had 80/20 FMAPs because they are poor. He knows this stuff because he’s on the committee. The biggest boos was when he said that Paul Ryan was a good man and a good Speaker. That could be cut into an ad for the next D opponent, and if it’s Jacobs again, I guess that’s good because at least he’ll have some name recognition. I respect Lance immensely but if he votes for the ACA repeal bill that got leaked he is dead to me forever.
Lance is trying to appear moderate and reasonable because Hillary beat Trump by a point in his district (also my district), and he’s high on Dems’ target list for 2018. So not insulting his constituents is part of his re-election strategy.
But he started out conservative when he first ran in 2008 and has only gotten more so.
His very first email survey of constituents, in the depths of the recession, found that JOBS! was people’s runaway No. 1 priority. Lance’s response was to tell us that we were wrong and the deficit was really more important…
I will give him credit for being honest about this issue, and while I’m not thrilled that he is a member of the GOP, I don’t live in his district. Kudos to him for talking sense, unlike so many of his colleagues.
Obama is the one paying? I’ve been sending my invoices to Soros, no wonder I haven’t seen a check yet!
I have attended town halls irregularly since 1980. Never once in all that time has anyone ever offered me even so much as coffee when attending a town hall.
