The Democrat will win tonight, but this is a “jungle” primary where most of the candidates are weeded out. The top two will run off in June. Here is the problem. This race has one Democrat and a bunch of Republicans. If Ossoff gets 45% tonight, he seems to win by a big margin, but if in June the other candidate gets all the Republican votes Ossoff loses 55/45%.

Agreed. Much too much is being placed on this race. I’ll be thrilled if Ossoff wins, but I think it’s a mistake to read too much into it. I’d like to see a special election in a pink or purple district. That would be a better bellwether. Frankly, those are the ones where we need to clean up next year.

However the modern day GOP’s job would be easier, if their possible June candidate was someone other than Handel. There are blue folks clamoring for a do-over and a crazy eyed Sarah Palin backing Handel again should be enough incentive to get the fence sitters to support any Ossoff push.

He’s my Congressperson. I’d characterize him as being a nice guy with- from my point of view- dreadful politics. He’s a tea part dude and a member of the Freedom Caucus. Frankly, he knew what he would meet in Oroville, so he has guts. I’ve seen him do that before, showing up for a debate in Chico, California, a very blue city in a red district. So. I don’t know. How about we register more Democrats and vote him out so he can go back to the farm. He supported Rubio but has seemed satisfied with Trump. I think Trump is a demented loon, so there’s another difference. He’s going to have competition in 2018. If anyone would like to help, wait till we know who is running against him and contribute. Democrats have a very difficult time raising money in this district. That’s California Congressional District 1. Make a note.
