Josh Gottheimer is the 2016 Democratic candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 5th Congressional District of New Jersey
Gottheimer attended the University of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degree. He then went on to became a Thouron Fellow at Oxford and attend Harvard Law School. Gottheimer worked as a speech writer under former President Bill Clinton, assisting with two State of the Union addresses, among other projects. He currently works for Microsoft as a General Manager for corporate strategy.
So what will it be a forward looking leader? - or bitter sour puss Garrett trying to claw his district and the country back to crueler, bigoted & elitist times?
The NJ Democrats should really make an ad about this:
The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security says the Oath Keepers are “militia extremists” and a “domestic terror threat.” So why does Republican NJ Representative Scott Garrett pal around with terrorists and call them “unsung heroes”?
Vote Josh Gottheimer for New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District on Election Day. Vote for a Democrat who respects the Constitution, not for the Republican who rejects it.
Seriously, it pretty much writes itself.
Thank you, Eustace, for making me laugh on a difficult day, despite the coffee in my nostrils. (And for a mental image that I’d best keep to myself.)
FYI:
"TRENTON — A string of new reports suggests the odds of Democratic challenger Josh Gottheimer unseating Republican U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett in New Jersey’s 5th congressional district this November may be improving.
The Cook Political Report changed the race from leaning Republican to a “toss up” — the second time in a week a political handicapper upgraded Gottheimer’s chances of beating Garrett. "
Oh yes, more guns, more killings…Garrett is obviously a supporter of terror.
He must think the tree of liberty is refreshed with the water from the Hackensack river.
that’s why they all should be wearing shock collars for such escapes…
Oh yes-My wife’s cousin used to work as assistant to Loretta Weinberg, so I’ve heard an earful about Garrett. He’s a textbook example of an asshole who gets in because he’s got a safe district, then thinks he’s popular because of his asshole-ishness.
It takes a pretty rare breed of ® to work himself out of a job up there, but Garrett might do it
One hopes. But the mere fact he didn’t even feel like he needed to put on the lead lined gloves and get out the tongs tells you it’s a thing he did without the slightest qualm or concern about negative career impacts.
He has a terrific challenger, Josh Gottheimer, who worked for Bill Clinton in the White House and was a Microsoft VP before deciding to run for Congress from his hometown. Gottheimer has actually moved into a tie with Garrett. I think that at least one recent poll has Gottheimer with a small lead.
I know just how you feel.
Mine’s just about as bad.
But I did see over at Huffpo that 30 more Congressional GOP have signed a letter saying they don’t support HO and one of them is a GOP Representative from Texas! That tells me that he’s worried about holding onto his job if he supports Trump. That tells me that Texas might be closer than we think.
In short, these unsung heroes often turn out to be unhung zeroes.
Well, if I’m not mistaken, and I learned this from a remote skit on Jimmy Kimmel no less, because of vicious gerrymandering, Austin, one of the most, if not the most liberal city in Texas (admittedly, I’m not read-up on Texas, anywhere that executes a mentally challenged man, with an IQ of 61, and gave us Dubya, is a place I don’t care to learn about. Shame on me for being so closed minded, I know…I’m working on my Texas anti-stigma, but it’s taking some time.) I digress…okay, so my point before I was sidetracked by my anti-Texas rant–due to aggressive gerrymandering, Austin has 2 dem reps and 3 republican reps. or maybe it was 1 d 4 r…I don’t recall, but the guy they were talking to was making it a point that their republican congressmen do not represent the constituents in an accurate fashion.
That’s what gerrymandering does. It allows the politicians to pick the voters, and force feeds certain politicians to certain districts. Then these force fed congressmen do not address the needs of certain blocks of their constituencies. It needs to be outlawed, for good. Close down the loopholes, let bi-partisan councils, in every state, hash out the districts once and for all.
In Jersey, my congressmen, which is this asshole (Garrett), represents Hackensack, which like any city, has impoverished people whose needs are in a realm where he’ll NEVER try to protect. And he also represents Upper Saddle River, which has mansions. All this because Christie redistricted and got a long standing, dedicated civil servant, (now former) Congressman Steve Rothman to run against another Dem stalwart, Congressmen Bill Pascrell. Pascrell won, and Rothman’s seat just went poof! Gone! So, a city like Hackensack, the impoverished in the city, had a guy like Rothman fighting for them one day, and the next, just like that, they had this asshole who has probably never set foot in Hackensack, let alone fight for it. It’s a disgrace. Gerrymandering as a whole…a disgrace.
