Discussion: GOP Rep. Goes To Great Lengths To Deny Trump Was Implicated In Crimes

Part of me is annoyed/impatient that these investigations are (seemingly) taking so long to unfold. But the benefit is that it is allowing so many half-wits and scoundrels to continue to defend Trump, ala the frog in the slow-boil pot of water. We are collecting so many amazing partisan denials and rationalizations that once this blows up for real (inshallah), all these dupes will be hung out to dry.

If it had all come out in one blockbuster DOJ move, everyone would just deny they ever knew Trump and attempt to save their integrity. But this way, it’s coming out piece by piece, yard by yard, and defenders figure ā€˜well, I’ve come this far, one more li’l dishonorable argument that beggars belief can’t hurt…’ and so on and on and on.

It will be a glorious day when (alright, if/when) the bills come due. Dem campaign ads are writing themselves!

I would expect this Tom Reed fellow to not be such a fatty. It must take an immense about of energy to develop that amount of willful ignorance in addition to maintaining his physical girth. You’d think he’d look more like he’d just been liberated from a camp. But apparently he’s only been liberated from a conscience.

Hmm…if this was Obama or Hillary they’d be singing a different tune and that’s one question reporters should ask these Reeps.

Otherwise, either the Reeps are truly in denial this is all Mueller has or they’re playing this out until the moment Murller drops a bomb on them and Trump.

An equivalent conversation…

Reporter: gravity sucks.

Idiot #1: Eh, I don’t agree with that

Reporter: But gravity is a scientific fact. How can you argue that?

Idiot #1: Trampolines

Reporter: …

Shorter GOP Rep: I will say anything to defend him. Until he is arrested. Then he was a Democrat to begin with.

ā€œThat’s just the truth, I don’t know how you disagree with it, it’s a fact,ā€ Keilar said.

Republicans don’t do facts.

If this guy wants to defer to the American people then he should work toward Medicare for all and drop the push for the wall or for tariffs.

Pretty much. His district also includes Ithaca, but he refers to its residents derisively and rarely meets with them.

I heard a Republican ā€œstrategistā€ say that the campaign violations were minor and might result in a fine. If so why is Cohen going to jail?

Is it wrong that I love Brianna Keilar and want to marry her?

Says who? Polls. All of them.

She’s Fabulous.

Let’s not forget that we have Trump on tape (courtesy of Cohen) discussing these payment and enthusiastically promoting them. Plus, we have him publicly denying everything about it – which was a lie – and telling the public that Cohen was the one to talk to about that. Plus there’s the every changing story of why the payments were made. Plus there’s the payments to Cohen to reimburse him for those rush money payments, with a little (a lot) extra to cover the his taxes for the earnings from it and the work. Plus … Plus … Plus.

If that doesn’t demonstrate both criminal intent AND knowledge of guilt, then you have a biased party deflecting the obvious criminal nature of the entire affair.

Not surprised. I’m in NY-19 (yesssss, Delgado!) and large parts of this CD is rural & red. Faso underestimated Ulster, POCs, etc. and got smacked.

A more important aspect of Edwards’ payments to his mistress was not to steal an election, it was to shield his family from embarrassment. Indeed, the excuse was so believable that he was eventually acquitted.

Now, Cockholster saving anyone — family, ā€œfriendsā€, anyone! — embarrassment will be laughed out of court, with everyone involved rolling on the floor and eventually dying from the hilarity of the mere notion.

I was soooo pleased to see that!

Well they sent the best lawyer they could find apparently. JD Ohio Northern University College of Law

A caring and accessible leader, Tom values the thoughts and concerns of the people from across the district, which is why he has held more than 200 public town hall meetings since taking office.

So Tom is outright lying on his House bio page, figures he’s a Republican.

I was thinking about the false financial statements that were filed characterizing the payments to Cohen as legal fees. .That’s hard to shrug off.

Well, I actually thought he was better in Young Frankenstein.

Reed added: ā€œObviously, there’s activity here, but I don’t think it’s criminal. Whether or not it was wise, I’ll defer to the American people on that.ā€

American person here, also fluent in written/spoken English. Thanks for deferring, I’m going with not wise, but also Cohen was convicted of a federal crime, so it really doesn’t matter what you think, it’s criminal and that’s a fact.
