I am utterly sick and tired of the “access to healthcare” canard.

“Access to healthcare” is a weasel term for “go out and buy it yourself, you panhandling deadbeat” – which does nothing to change the quality of or ability to obtain healthcare in this country.

We are a goddamned First World nation. We should not in this day and age still have people wondering if they can see a doctor before they come down with terminal illness, or still have people afraid to go see a doctor because they’re worried of being financially ruined.

It reminds me of the scene from ‘Brubaker’ where the injured prisoner is moaning ‘I can’t afford anymore’ when being told the doctor is on his way.

It’s revolting, sickening, and absolutely uncivilized.

Idaho, along with SC, Texas, and Mississippi, ranks as among the dumbest states. Chobani Yogurt moved one of its plants there to exploit the cheap labor. They can have a horrible day job and play militia every night and weekends.

A sewer of a state of which this clown is the perfect rep.

What with the “per”? I’ve noticed that Word recommends this as a preferred term to “according to”. It’s Latin, so you’d expect what follows to also be in Latin, e.g. per capita.

In a a fucking nutshell.
I was sitting across from some Trump supporters at a wedding and they lamented that T-Rump had been unable to do anything about health care .
I carefully explained the concept of insurance companies making money off them getting sick and being the final decider on what kind of care you get.
I said imagine your doctor’s office without a staff of 20 to deal with the various insurance companies
I then explained the advantages of single payer citing medicare and the Canadian system
Do you know they actually listened and by the end I had sold them

But we need to look at our population at large - who elects these wackos and why. It would seem our population at large has become greedier, less compassionate, less educated in the social sciences, less understanding and appreciative of anything not within their own sphere. How do we reverse the trend?

Bingo.

It’s not that it’s just less educated—it’s actually become anti-intellectual.
