Discussion: GOP Rep. Calls Schweitzer 'Sexist Scumbag' Over Feinstein Comment

Discussion for article #224141

Ok, I may not be up on all the insults to women (and I’ve heard enough of them in my time by better than him), but I’m darned if I understand what the insult is. I suppose I should consider the source and simply ignore him.

Schweitzer was calling her a whore who then claimed to be a nun. It was incredibly sexist. He’s a jackass but no GOPer has any room to talk when so many of his ilk say so much worse.

This guy co-sponsored a bill with Todd Akin to restrict rape victims from getting abortions, so he’s got real credibility wit da wimmen folk.

Exactly. Schweitzer deserves to be loudly called out on this crap, but jerks like Coffman aren’t in the position to do so.

I’ve been touting Schweitzer as a vice presidential possibility, but this is beyond awful.

I have a hard time picturing Dianne Feinstein “standing under the streetlight with her dress pulled all the way up over her knees.”

I usually picture her standing over the bullet-ridden bodies of Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone, dealing with a trauma so horrible that few of us can imagine it.

She’s probably tougher than Schweitzer and Coffman put together.

Guess which birther-curious teabagging cocksucker got redistricted into a tossup district and is being challenged by a seasoned and popular Dem who very well may win Tom Tancredo’s old seat… yeah THAT guy!

Get a good look at that lizard face because we won’t have Mike Coffmann to kick around for much longer.

It’s good to see Rep. Coffman standing up for a Democrat, which is why the remarks he made back in 2012 are so confusing now. First he said President Obama was not an American. Then we he got caught, he apologized. Then when the Yahoos were giving him shit, he claimed his apology was not sincere the VERY SAME DAY.

So is he being sincere when he stands up for Senator Feinstein or not?

Personally, I find the Cantor “effeminate mannerisms” far more appalling.

Not defending Schweitzer’s unfortunate metaphor but if you have much class in your pinky or anywhere else you generally try to avoid yelling the word “scumbag” a lot in public. I appreciate any attempt to built comity across the aisle and between the chambers but saying “scumbag” makes you sound like a vulgar pseudo-macho clod.

ETA Thanks, SpocksBP, that explains the rare gesture of simple decency toward a Democrat. Doubted it was kosher but had no idea what was up.

Bringing a homophobic slur into a discussion of a sexist attack. It’s not just right-wingers who have no sense of irony (or decency, in your case).

Interesting that Coffman did not tweet in defense of Cantor!

Yeah… despise this twerp Coffman, but even a broken watch…

Schweitzer is double done in my book. I don’t care if you intensely dislike Feinstein and/or Cantor – his remarks were beyond bad (and last I looked, he had not retracted them).

Bye, bye, Brian – used ta like ya. Used ta…

It’s always great when someone who makes a shitty comment gets called out. Schweitzer definitely had that coming. And more. What an assy thing to say.

That said, I really don’t think this GOPer was sincere in his defense of Feinstein - else he’d call out a number of people that have said some awful things about Hillary, Nancy Pelosi and Michelle Obama. I think this was more about sticking it to a Democrat and to say “look - I defended a woman, therefore I’m pro-women!”

Also, I find it rather odd that Republicans hate the “PC Police” but yet jump all over someone for saying something (he deems - and rightfully so) sexist. I maintain this is a stunt to raise his profile, make news and to shield against charges of “War on Women”. I mean, haven’t we been told to stop being so sensitve, it’s free speech and to just ignore stuff we don’t like to hear?

I aint buyin this act - not from this guy. And he’s a birther to boot.

why? what’s he done to warrant even being in the conversation for a place on the presidential ticket?

Schweitzer was a popular governor here in Montana (he had a
special fondness and gift for sticking it to the tea party legislature
in very public venues). But I think he did an incredible disservice to
the state when he declined to run for senator and try for the
presidency instead (which he has zero chance). I never noticed
that he had a bad case of foot in mouth or in this instance head up
ass disease while he was governor. Maybe all the sheer lunacies
from the tea baggers was drowning it out at the time.

I think he was saying it was a legitimate rape and that she didn’t use her female mechanisms to prevent the insult.

Why doesn’t the story mention that Schweitzer is a Democrat? It’s germane to why this Republican is trying to paint him as a sexist (pot, meet kettle).
