WWJD?
Ha, ha, ha, I crack myself up!
In the prayer, Conroy expressed the hope that the bill not create “winners and losers” but that its benefits be “balanced and shared by all.
That’s controversial?!? Even if he’s just paying hollow lip service to the sentiment, it’s enough to get fired by a Randyian zombie like Ryan?
Deplorable.
No one with a brain thought they would. Ryan’s corruption grows.
Catholics are a large White voting block.
All Republicans are goddamn fascists at this point. Every goddamn one of them.
So cowardly. He besmerches the Priest’s reputation, alleging complaints that no one has heard of, rather than admit the whole thing was a political hatchet job.
Those GOpers can recognize a witch hunt when they see one…
Of course they reject the probe. They are stupid enough to believe this won’t be used against them politically. Fucking fools.
Open… open… Anyone? Anyone? Open records requests?
Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?
No one? Okay, I’ll have to do it myself.
Get trump involved, he has a guy to replace him and he likes to do the opposite idea.
David Miscavige the leader of the Church of Scientology.
Remember how Ryan and the GOP got nuns to stand around them when they were lobbying against the ACA because it covered birth control? Now Ryan warned the chaplain to keep politics and religion separate. I was going to call this the height of hypocrisy, but I suspect the GOP will climb higher.
OMG that is a great point!
Thanks for the reminder!
Considering the fact that the Chaplain has, over the history of the House, served for 2-3 years for a majority of cases, it’s time to replace the Chaplain. In addition, there has been a Catholic for 18 years. They should replace the Chaplain with someone new every 2 years, they should include Jews and Muslims and Hindu priests, and they should ensure that no political comments are made.
The face of Catholic America is changing. Today, immigrants make up a considerable share of Catholics, and many are Hispanic. …and no longer a reliably Republican base either; that honor belongs to Christian Nationalists who traditionally dislike Catholics because they are often associated with immigrants.
Shouldn’t they also have someone stand before the House every day and proclaim there is no God, and counsel everyone whatever efforts they put forth should be guided by no more than common sense and compassion and empathy for their fellow man?
They could just get a unitarian chaplain.
But I do wonder how you would figure out a definition of “poliitical” that would let a chaplain say anything at all.
The chance that the GOP would appoint a Jewish, Muslim or Hindu chaplain is about 0 out of 0.
