For the first time and as much as I love this country, or at least what it once was, Iâm half thinking about retiring somewhere abroad whenever that day arrives. Half thinking because I hate the idea of leaving the fight so to speak, but Iâm getting very tired of the illogical, hateful and ignorant ideology of the right in this country and I donât see a path to reason with them or to set things right again. Surely there has to be a more civilized, humanistic place.

Hear ya. But you canât emphasize too much that the appalling things the right has done to the national-level political discourse are not repeat not the only things happening. Thereâs a lot of innovation and forward-looking stuff happening that incorporates our best selves as Americans.

Rohrabacerâs district is very affluent. Coastal Orange County CA including Newport Beach, Costa Mesa. (thereâs a Maserati dealership in downtown Newport Beach). More yachts per capita than about anywhere. So the bible-bangin hillbilly stereotype certainly doesnât apply.

One of the most damning things for all these Republicans caught on film here, is that even if you were to buy their story that they realized they were being punked, that they were âtaken out of contextâ, that they were skeptical but played along out of politeness or whatever, that it was nothing more than âlocker room talkâ, is that if any that was true, why did not a single one of them sound the alarm to their gun-fondling NRA friends not to cooperate with this guy? Instead, they make connections and give him ins to reach them.
They all either took him at his word or they were too embarrassed to admit they were scammed - kompromat. Or, the usual con-manâs reliance on his marks being too embarrassed to call the cops and expose themselves as fools. Thing is - itâs on video! These arenât hidden cameras, OâKeefe style. He has them literally reading and demonstrating this stuff for mass audiences.

Sacha Baron Cohen has a unique ability to read people and get them to blurt out their deepest held insanity. Iâd like to see him snag an interview with Donald Trump. He could pass himself off as an Israeli reporter connected with Sheldon Adelsonâs free newspaper. Warm Trump up by getting him to talk about why he loves the Jews so much. He can flatter him into it, because heâll be giving his entire attention to Trump and trying to render him with sympathy to a starving public. Start with the Jews heâs hired to be his accounts and lawyers. The only people he wants counting his money are short guys wearing beanies. Then move on to Jared and Ivanka, maybe get him to talk about their wedding ceremony and reception and Trumpsplain us orthodox rituals and breaking the glass and going on at great length about the glass, and the chair dance, oy the chairs they were using, Donald knows from quality chairs, then talk about Ivankaâs connection to Judaism and how it informs her as a mommy and a presidential advisor and her choice of jewelry. Yes, Shabbat is demanding, but sheâs used to having other people press elevator buttons for her and turning out the lights. Get Trump to expatiate about his deep connection to Israel and why it was so important to move the embassy to Jerusalem and explain for us why Jerusalem is so important to the Jews and that how itâs obviously not about location location location, I mean have you been there? How he was surprised to see so many Arabs there, you know they have a fabulous market there. Get him to expand on his observations about Arabs and Palestinians, why the Right of Return is a con, a complete con, and perhaps get him to reflect on whether or not the Palestinians actually have a culture worthy of recognition, or is it just a branding exercise and not a good one at that, why they donât even have a State Orchestra or any High Tech Industry, and a lot of them you know still ride camels and sleep in the desert, they move around a lot, the darker ones anyway, thatâs from being in the sun for so long, you canât just have them return and roam about like that, getting in the way of construction projects. Itâs really just a matter of public safety. Thatâs why they built the wall â safety â keeps the riff-raff out if you know what I mean. Get him to expand on That Schwartzeâs apology tour and total cave-in to Muslims at Cairo. Wrap things up with Trumpâs musing about the future of the the State of Israel and his hopes and aspirations for the Jewish People, the People of the Book, the Chosen People, and how that doesnât mean that theyâre all pushy and choosy, although a lot of people donât know that.

My husband and I learned that we are eligible for Canadian citizenship because we both have a parent born in Canada. A change in the law last year. We are seriously considering obtaining it but continuing to live in the USA. Someday it might be useful to have an alternative place to live.

Donât forget the part where he says that isnât it a good thing they have a homeland now so thereâs no reason to stick around all those places in Europe where theyâre not wanted. And that maybe itâs a actually a good thing the Germans did for them, a little kick in the pants as it were, a little world support for the underdog, thatâs worked out just great for them land-wise.
