Show of hands, anyone who is surprised by this…

Anyone?..

Thought not.

His constituents must be real idiots to elect him.

There’s an oversight in this story. Which makes it more accurate than Chaffetz’s committee, which should be named the Undersight Committee.

I do. Though my experience was a girl… it seems gender-neutral.

A high ranking officer of the U.S. military openly states the current conduct of the Executive Branch constitutes a danger to the military fulfilling their mission of defending the country. We all know what that is a precursor to.

Which Russian behavior?

It isn’t war, but it is a long way from cordial. Russia has not (officially) declared war against the United States. Perhaps it is war-by-proxy, but I’m not even sure that it quite rises to that level. We’ve fought war-by-proxy before (Korea and the Southeast Asia Tarbaby are particularly good examples), but we aren’t quite there yet in my opinion. Active fighting is going on in Ukraine and Syria: we don’t really have a proxy in Ukraine and to a large degree we are fighting the same forces as the Russians in Syria.

Congress has the sole power to declare war, a Constitutional duty they have abrogated since 1941.

Which is why it is crucial to be priming Dem Rep candidates NOW. I have the illustrious Sean Duffy in my district in WI. He won the election last year by a margin of 62/38 and is in a ‘safe’ district. I don’t even know anything about this opposition.

Gerrymandered district indeed:

That’s what always puzzled me about Trump. You don’t need political sophistication to know he’s off. All you need is what you learned on the playground and hanging out with the other kids. If you met Trump at a party you’d never, ever seek further association with him. And yet somehow here we are. It’s funny, I can list all the factors that made it happen well enough but I can’t reconcile the facts that on the one hand this incredibly repellent man became, on the other hand, the President. You’d never want to have a beer with him. You’d probably pour your own beer on his head and walk away. Yet here we are.

It’s not even party anymore. It’s far-right before party or country. Even if the far-right is Russian. Welcome to globalism!

Yes, this is an instance of the more general phenomenon of GOP Partisan Interest Over National Interest, which I think needs a name - goppioni, short for GOP Partisan Interest Over National Interest

One cannot help but wonder what sort of wrongdoing by this administration Chaffetz actually would consider to be worth an investigation.

Too easy - anyone for anything, as long as the anyone has a D at the end.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) said on Tuesday that his panel will not investigate the circumstances that led to former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s resignation.

“I think that situation has taken care of itself,” Chaffetz told reporters …[/quote]

"Besides, Chaffetz added, “We’re kind of busy right now, still sifting through Hillary Clinton’s emails and awaiting the next Clinton email dump from Russia - I mean, uh, Wikileaks.”
