Thereās nothing in this bill for them, and a world of hurt if they vote for it. Or even if they let it pass.
> āI think anybody who is wavering feels some pressure because the vast majority of our conference wants to pass this bill,ā
THIS boys and girls is at the absolute heart of what todayās GOP is all aboutā¦yes indeedā¦the vast majority of this party WANTS to pass a health bill that supposedly benefits Americans by lowering their premium costs for health insurance while in reality, enabling states and insurance companies to achieve those lower costs by offering policies that essentially cover NOTHING essential.
As Woody Allen once said in his appropriately entitled film Bananas, Itās a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham.
Woody may be a mockery and a sham short of the truth when it comes to the GOP health plan and even more so when it comes to the one-page 500-word manure pile that is Trumpās āTAX REFORMā plan, but he gets the gist pretty well.
Bottom lineā¦this isnāt individual members of Congress holding these views and proposing these policies and gutting existing programs, laws, budgets and regulationsā¦it is THE majority US Political Party and it is just plainly and completely without remorse or empathyā¦exactly like its leader.
We now get to see of the so called Moderate Republicans are equipped with any integrity or if they are just party hacks. A vote for the new and worsened AHCA demonstrates that they have not honor.
Another moderate was overheard by the Hill telling a staffer: āIf I vote for this healthcare bill it will be the end of my career.āModerates got almost nothing in return in this new ācompromise,ā and were already uncomfortable with the legislations massive cuts to Medicaid and how it structured tax credits for individual insurance.
If you vote for this your career should be over. In essence this is a vote for the party (to make Trump look better), and it is not a vote for your constituents, nor a vote to improve ACA.
In away a vote against this bill might actually be considered a vote āforā party in terms of trying to save it from itself/destruction.
If they vote for it they face ads about how many people in their districts their shitty vote would have thrown out in the cold. If they donāt vote for it, they face possible primaries followed by a probable wave election that few are likely to survive. Might as well go ahead and be on the wronger side of history, I reckonā¦
I am not sure that by next spring being primaried wlll necessarily be such a bad thing. It might help in the general.
I donāt know, I think Iād rather go into reelection claiming I voted against this extremely unpopular mess in order to protect my constituents than to have to answer for the stuff thatās in it. I also wonder whether āmoderatesā and folks in swing districts will have to worry about a primary challenge from their left flank.
āDonāt Box Me Inā
It is really about shifting blame with this. It would not make it through the senate, but if this made it through the federal level GOP would just say we let the states decide. Not our fault or problem. Or that is what they would try to do at any rate.
I am still not clear on how that provision helps anybody at all or how the plan does at all. Trump just wants it by Friday to count towards his 100 days. He is that petty.
I have been thinking about that a lot, and I have come to the conclusion that the waiver thing mostly serves as a fig leaf for the Raving Loony Assh*le Caucus to vote for the bill. Then, even if no states take the waivers theyāve still got their $800 billion out of medicaid and the tax cut for the rich. And if some states do calculate that they can take waivers without seeing all the legislature and governor turfed out in the next election, it will probably be for getting rid of essential benefits only needed by tiny hated minorities like women.
If any of the so called āmoderatesā vote for this horrendous bill, they will pay for it at the ballot box. People do not like having the rug pulled out from beneath them. In particular, families with children who have a pre-existing condition like diabetes or cancer,or individuals with a pre- existing condition. If Tom Reed canāt stand the heat now, wait until he sees the inferno-like reaction from his constituents if he votes for this abomination.

There is a world of hurt for any Freedom Caucus members to vote for this crappyTrumpcare bill too. Many republicans constituents donāt want to see ACA repealed. If I was the Freedom Caucus I would make new demands so I didnāt have to vote for crappy Trumpcare.
Time to refresh my correspondence with Pat Meehan it seems. Shit.
Are they really going to vote for this bill without getting a CBO score? The last bill the CBO said 24 million people would lose their coverage. How many people would lose coverage under this bill? 25 million, 30 million? Maybe only 20 million. The Democrats are hoping they vote for this bill. That would guarantee a Democratic takeover of the House in 2018.
Do we know it isnāt going to make it through the Senate? Is it ādeficit neutral?ā It may only require 51 votes. After a ābrave standā against it on behalf of the people of their states, āmoderatesā Murkowski and Collins will vote for it.
I donāt think the Senate wants anything to do with this turd, and I hope I am wrong, but this may not be subject to filibuster.
