Discussion: GOP Lawmakers Wake Up To The Nightmare: Trump Ain't Changing

Most of us learned the truth about Trump years ago when he was pushing his “birther” agenda. I’m waiting for the Republican “leadership” to admit they should have called him on that and insisted he apologize to President Obama. They have happily tolerated racism/sexism in their voters to stay in power. Now they are paying the price. I daresay the late William F. Buckley (who rejected the John Birchers) never would have tolerated this.

He is also on the Republican message, the same message they spew on Fox News and Talk Radio every day. He is just saying the same shit Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones, Fox and Friends and the rest say daily in situations where reporters are actually forced to report it. Americans who don’t watch Fox News or listen to Talk Radio daily are horrified.

"…I think the realization is coming that we got what we got,” said Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) who has yet to endorse Trump. “That is not somebody who can win the White House.”

What we have here, is a failure to excommunicate.

I think it’s even worse than they might understand (although maybe they do.) Rump won the GOP nomination by a wide margin from the GOP base. The fact is, the GOP, is now a completely White Nationalist Party. The combined numbers from Kasich, Cruz & Rubio still didn’t put a dent n Rump. So, now what? Either Rump runs again in 2020 or they find someone just like him and their base nominates them.

OMFG! Moanin’ Joe Scarborough has managed to scrape the bottom (underneath) of the barrel and has brought in Ralph Reed to tout Trump as THE candidate for the America’s evangelicals.

rotfl…It reinforces exactly what I’ve always thought about that bunch of vacuous, screeching, self righteous Fundie howler monkeys. They are the lowest of the low, easily swayed by their hate and bigotry, and therefore are perfect lemmings for Trump.

Because no one , I mean no one tells Trump what to do. I’ve had that silver spoon in my mouth or whatever since I was born. I won’t change now

Nailed it!

I’ve had the same experience.

I simply cannot let the zombie lies pass unchallenged. And frankly, I’ve decided to let the chips fall where they may - it’s way past time for citizens of good conscience to push back on the bullsh!t.

Like the President himself, I have no fvcks left to give, particularly when it comes to ignorance and lies.

Corker in Drumpf Tower meeting: “Mr. Trump, I’m on my knees begging you - Shut the Fuck up!”

“It’s time to just let go of this … and move on.” Yessir, Mr. Collins. But even if everybody - media, voters, international community - was willing to let everything in the past go, the Donald would just say something the next day to blot his copybook.

Unless by “this” he means Donald himself.

My biggest fear concerning Trump was that he’d ‘normalize’ his behavior and lure in some low information voters making this a closer election than it should be. Last night’s teleprompter speech put that concern to rest. He’s the same blowhard as before and for once I agree with Newt, the person most likely to defeat Trump is Trump.

But then he might not accept their free publicity!

Such a quandary for the Heathers in the Beltway Stenographer Corps.

And in fact, it’s the very same message that conservatives have been building for the last 40+ years.

Nothing has changed, other than the frequency of the dog whistles. Now everyone can hear them quite clearly.

But it’s certainly nothing new…

I like how they’re phrasing this: “I hope he’ll change his tone.”

Yeah, it’s okay to BE a bigot, Donny, just don’t say it out loud!

Donald is a tragic figure and who are they fooling, thinking he’ll change. Couldn’t help but think of this:

If he had been giving speeches like that joke last night all along, he would not have won a single primary.

Such a quandary for Drumpf and the Republickens!

Is it wrong that I’m smiling?

The very fact that GOPers thought he would ‘change’ speaks volumes about the party. They actually believed that he would change horses, that he suddenly would say “I won’t build a wall. I won’t deport undocumented residents, I won’t ban Muslims, I won’t attack women, I won’t call reporters ugly names, and won’t threaten to sue anyone with whom I disagree?” And if he did, they would believe he actually means it?
