Instead of “religious freedom”, let’s use the term “Muslim freedom” and see how far they run the other way.

And the state’s top House Republican has said his priority is passing a bill to ensure religious leaders aren’t required to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies. (GA House Speaker David Ralston)

Sir, if this was the only point your bill addressed, I’d be on board supporting you. No religious leader should feel compelled to act in or perform a wedding (any wedding – including interracial or interdenominational, etc.) they didn’t wish to do so. That should apply across the board to all houses of worship–pretty much as we understand it is now. If you need to have a law on the books stating that, then fine. I feel the need to have a law on the books stating that in the marketplace–outside of places of worship–everyone be treated equally. Inside the church walls, the church decides what happens. Outside the church walls, our laws determine what happens.

That said, has any gay couple attempted to force a clergy member to act in or perform in their ceremony? By that, I mean attempted to take lawful actions against a church or clergy member who is not acting in the public realm or as a public servant. I haven’t heard of any.
