Discussion for article #244847
The reason the GOP can’t come up with a plan to replace Obamacare is that Obamacare was originally a GOP idea. It was the best, most complete plan that they originally came up with. Then it was enacted by the Muslim Kenyan. So instead of being happy that THEIR plan was enacted (and is actually working fairly well for it not being a single-payer system), they throw a hissy fit. And they have nothing else to go to.
“I’ve always said we ought to have a replacement to the president’s healthcare law.”
Ice floes.
once again… the Republican priority is to get re-elected rather than what might be in the best interests of the Country as a whole…
It’s just so darn strange that legislators can write and sponsor bills for their own pet projects, but none of the legislators that think a replacement plan is needed have the ability to write their own!
“lower costs and put patients in charge of their healthcare”
Translation: “lower costs” = for employers & businesses
“patients in charge of their healthcare” = patients ‘responsible’ for more costs & navigating unregulated system
They can only lose by attempting to replace the ACA. The fact of the matter is that such legislation is incredibly complicated and any actual replacement bill would take months and even then they would only be criticized for either falling short or doing the same thing the ACA does. There is no upside for them in created a comparison to the ACA.
And finally, they simply don’t have the policy expertise. A tax credit or tax deduction is the only policy rx they are capable of.
Fearless prediction: McConnell as caporegime will call his lieutenants together on or around January 20, 2017 and will agree not to cooperate with the new Democratic president and make that president a one-term president.
A Republican replacement for Obamacare is sort of like a mermaid. Sailors insist it’s out there but nobody’s ever seen one.
We are waiting and listening Rep. Scarlise!
I’m sure they’ll get on it right after they finish up that Jobs bill and Immigration reform.
‘Replacement’ my ass…FIX what is in place. The GOP has deliberately screwed around for 7+ years and this newest ‘meme’ is just to take credit for a health plan without Obama’s fingerprints on it. They whine and snivel about ‘money’ and then spend recklessly for political advantage (perceived).
Here’s their plan for replacing the ACA : keep it the way it is, but change the name and declare victory. Then take all credit for everything the ACA has accomplished to this point.
That plus the GOP’s heart was never really in it to begin with. They came up with a plan just to say they had one. They never really wanted to enact it.
That’s because old droopy drawls and his bought and paid for winger cohorts can’t figure out how to cover everyone and make a profit at the same time. The two concepts are an anathema to each other so they will have to choose to do one or the other. But for now they’re just going to run their mouth’s and lie to everyone and at this stage Republican voters are so stupid that that is all they have to do.
The reason they can’t come up with a replacement plan is simply that they don’t want one. They are serious about the “repeal” part of “repeal and replace,” but the “replace” part was never anything but political window dressing. If they were to get the presidency in 2016, they would repeal, then come up with some little nothing policy change, probably making things worse for everyone but the very rich, and declare themselves the saviors of health care, the republic, and Christianity.
Godfather Saga marathon?
He will proclaim the new president a Lame Duck on DAY ONE and every kook out there will start hummin’ that tune.
Then, on DAY 1,460, when Hillary takes the oath for the 2nd time, McConnell, out of denial but in diapers and living in the care of others, will wonder how everything got so mixed up.
The Godfather Saga is a thing if you hadn’t heard, was on HBO the night of the debate. The three films were put together in a five hour chronological mash up. To tell the truth, it wasn’t very good. Coppola had good editors because this thing was something of a very long mess.
Can we expect that rAyn’s House will vote to repeal a 63rd, 64th and 65th time in the next Democratic administration?
