Discussion: GOP Lawmaker: Dem Congresswoman Will Lose Because She's 'Ugly As Sin'

Discussion for article #228784

See, here’s proof there’s no GOP War on Women—it’s a ā€œWar on Ugly WomenĀ®ā€

Unless you go to NH, you don’t realize that there isn’t a big difference from West Virginia in most of the state. When you drive through the state, often you are looking up at the leaves and miss the cars on blocks and the outhouses.

We all can’t be as pretty as Steve…

Does this, ah…person know that ugly is a DC prerequisite?

That’s exactly right. They love the women at FOX ā€œNewsā€ with the ā€œhot for teacherā€ a la Palin look.

You know, I’m as cynical as the next person but I think Garcia is being totally honest when she denounces this guy. You think she hasn’t been given the business by disgusting toads like him her whole life? You think she doesn’t honestly deplore sexism? I’ll bet she does. And when I look at his fat, bald, moon-faced self I see a vast ocean of young, attractive waitresses and office workers this toad has propositioned in some crude fashion. Well done, sir, with a few ill-chosen words you’ve disgusted every decent human in this country.

Seriously. When he walks down the street, assuming he doesn’t use some sort of motorized scooter, he leaves a trail of retching women in his wake. I’d love to know how many hookers have turned him down, I really would.

What is it with Republicans? They can’t just be mean and sexist, they always have to take it up a notch and add hateful and rude. And why is it that the least attractive Republican males always feel the need to comment on a woman’s appearance, as if being pasty, obese, bald, and ugly is perfectly attractive?

It would be nice if TPM would illustrate the story with his picture, rather than hers. Showing the victim of his misogyny just invites us to decide whether we agree with him. Whether she is or is not actually attractive is beside the point.

Well, perhaps I am more cynical than the next person. First off, she isn’t all ā€œthatā€ to look at either in my personal opinion. From what I have read, and given her support, she is as deeply crazy as any teabagger. But some of them do seem to be learning that there really is a need to use your indoor voice while in a campaign.

She is just trying to distance herself because she knows statements like that resonate with lots of women voters and she doesn’t want them jumping ship and voting for Kuster.

Of course, by this idiot’s thinking, Grimes will be a shoo in against McConnell

Bravo! Great point!

Then again, TPM is more TMZ lately.

Are we back in junior high school as it was called in my day, now middle school? Reminds me of when I was going through my teens(I’m now 72, but it still hurts to remember) and being ridiculed for my blemishes. My brother-in-law actually called me ā€œpimpleā€ to my face as I babysat their 5 children!!

This is the shallow little misogynist making the accusation.

I won’t characterize his ā€˜outstanding’ looks. I’ll let you be the judge.

This kind of talk doesn’t win any female votes that said unfortunately from high school President the whole way to congress it’s a popularity contest. Most people don’t even know who their congress man or woman is. I went to her web site , she’s easy on the eyes.

Yes, yes, keep working on that ā€œoutreachā€.
I am reminded of Spock’s statement: ā€œIt was easier for you as Civilized Men to act like Savages than for them as Savages to act like Civilized Men.ā€
