Why is it that Americans, and it seems Republicans in particular, need a boogeyman? A generation ago it was commies, today it’s Muslims. (To a certain extent, it’s still commies. See, e.g., Don Blankenship’s recent comments about the communist NYT. Repubs may lurve Russia nowadays, but they also still freely invoke the spectre of communism whenever they need to whip up the passions of the rubes.)
Abdul El-Sayed is a good guy, and Colbeck is a yammering jackass. Neither has any real chance of being elected governor in Michigan.
