Pelosi does exactly what most people around here claim they want - she strongly and vocally supports liberal policies. She does need to help shepherd future leaders, but I want them to display the kind of leadership she does.
My worst fear is that we get leaders that republicans donāt fear enough to smear.

There was a panel the other day on MS NBC discussing news media and how they flock to his rallies and how they are put in harms way jeopardy so to speak. This panel dissent discussed pulling the media together and sending one news outlet to his rally. It was a genius idea if he hates the media so much and they really need to stop covering his rallies if he thinks that the news media is a threat to the public well I think we should remove them selves let him sit there in the silence in the shadow of them self squawking at his little group of junk yard dogs throw mall the redmeat he wants because theyāll be no one there to report it. So greatest idea ever. And If he makes it through this term and decides to run for president a second term if I was a candidate I wouldnāt be on the same stage with him he has lost the right to have anyone stand on the same stage with him and trying to debate his idiocy name-calling I wouldnāt do it. Heās not worthy even as a candidate running for office again to stand next to reputable candidate who do not stoop to calling the other candidate names. He has no policies heās a screwball heās unhinged heās not heās crazy who wants to debate with a crazy. I wouldnāt and Iād make it known why heās an idiot heās a bully heās a moron and most of all heās a traitor he wants to be seen on the stage debating with a traitor to his country.

The only way out of this mess is to actually let Trump Be Trump. His advisors talk a good game about that, as well has all his defenders in the House and Senate, but at the same time you have people like Corker saying itās like Adult Day Care in there. You have Kelly destroying his sanity keeping all the cats herded, Mattis quietly gainsaying what Trump says to Nato leaders, his lawyers advising him to reverse himself by changing Would to Wouldnāt, his entire national and domestic security staffs paraded in front of the press briefing to flat out contradict Trump and swear that we arenāt really crazy, Giuliani out there destroying his own credibility turning somersaults to distract from Trumpās latest efforts at obstruction, Ryan aw-shucking āNow I donāt think that will be necessaryā every time Trump demands yet another government shutdown to fund his imaginary Wall, Mitchell flatly declaring āWe Aināt Agonna Do That No Sir,ā Jason Lewis and Steve Cortes mixing it up with CNN anchors and Anna Navarro, blinking in a very pissed way while she barely holds her tongue before she explodes in a fiery acid bath of moral indignation, and Tom Bossert, now a political analyst for ABC NEWS, telling Stephanopoulos to look at Trumpās actions, not his tweets, and such like and so forth.
If they really let Trump be Trump, he would violate every oath he swore to upon inauguration, commit flagrant acts of obsesstruction by firing Sessions, Rosenstein, and everybody on down, turn water cannons on NFL kneelers, send troops to the border, declare war on Canada and Europe, announce that he is now president for life and alternating care of the office with Putin just like the dual kingships of Ancient Sparta, have Mueller arrested and his team of 13 or 17 or 666 Angry Democrats deported to Russia, and I do believe Mattis would step in and take over for a day, have Trump and Pence and Bolton and Pompeo and Sarah Huckabee Sanders thrown in military lockup, announce new elections to be decided by popular vote, submit a petition to congress for a new constitutional amendment abolishing the Electoral College, and my prediction is that we could watch the Rose Parade early next January in peace and quiet and all be one big happy family getting along with each other again. Also, the Trump Base types will be interned in debriefing and reeducation camps with experienced trauma and grief counselors and trained with work skills for the new economy as box-stuffers and bubble-wrap associates at Amazon.com. The first new foreign policy goal will be to immediately reunite all separated families at the southern border with the help of Amnesty International, the Red Cross, and experts in blood typing and DNA matching from around the world. Iām not sure what is to be done with the Q people, but perhaps the actual Q could vanish them to another planet that they could colonize and protect as a temple to various gods of the alphabet and finally build that tower of babel to kiss the sky and announce the glory of Jesus speaking in tongues of various degrees of slobber and devotion.

If Nancy Pelosi had a penis instead of a vagina, (s)he would still have a āmixed recordā but (s)he would also be lionized as one of the most skilled Congressional politicians since LBJ, and very few people would be talking the Republican line about how it is time for her to retire. Can you imagine this kind of talk about any equally skilled man during this fraught time. This is not the time for Democrats to be discussing pushing out their most skilled legislators. Not at all.

True. There are voices on the left just as misogynist as any on the right. The right always goes after the women because they know their male dominated base will eat it up. They also know many on the left will sympathize and do their bidding. Times are changing and those neanderthals will be buried in their own ignorance soon enough. Women rising is more of a threat to some men than minorities could ever be.

You may have missed what they say about Obama. I am including men and women in the current Democratic leadership needing to bring up a new generation. (I hope, and certainly expect, that said new generation includes lots of women.) It isnāt so much a matter of pushing them out as it is of having a deeper bench. They can still be the power behind the scenes until they no longer can or wish to be in politics. (Reid is retired and still involved on his own terms.) If we regain either house (or dare I hope both houses) in the mid-terms, their skills will be needed more than ever, but we absolutely need that expertise to be shared widely. Ultimately, that is what leadership really means. (And by concentrating so much power and attention in the hands of a few individuals, we give Republicans only a few targets to focus their attacks on. That simply isnāt smart, and in the current situation, we need to be very, very smart.)

You know that is true about every Democrat who gains power going back to the first Clinton term. Thatās when the vilification began. Change the leader - and it will still be the case. Regardless of gender. But it gets more vicious and quick to demonize when the target is a woman. But you already know that, right?
