Discussion: GOP Fears Trump's War On Pre-Existing Condition Protections Will Backfire Bigly

“Whoever tends to be disruptive on healthcare tends to get punished,” former Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA), a former NRCC chairman, told TPM. “When Republicans come in and try to undo Obamacare, they’re being disruptive.”

So why have you all made that your banner for the last umpteen years?

I’m over 50 with numerous pre-existing conditions and cannot work because of them (but can’t get SSDI because I didn’t have enough work credits when I got sick). Right now my family is on Cobra and that’s 3500 a month and it’s a given that if I go into the private market without protection (and without hitting the lottery) there is no way I’ll be able to afford insurance.

So let’s hope it does backfire and sooner rather than later.

Death sentences for the poor.
Feature , not bug.

It isnt disruptive. Its intentional murder of the poor by legislation. Its the GOP goal over the past 30 years finally made clear to the rubes theyve conned. Its part of their gods plan.

“Democrats destroyed the health care system as we knew when they rammed Obamacare down our throats…"

Can you believe we still have assholes like this?

Revolting. Every Republican is a menace.

Mr. Trump I’d like you to meet my friend Mr. Issac Newton. “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

Republicans - You brought this upon yourselves.

We shall see if the Trump base continues to vote against their interest. My guess is most will, since the cheap, cover-nothing policies are now being made available again and they’ll think they have health insurance coverage at a cheaper price.

Taking away health care coverage from millions of people - it’s the Republican way.

that the democrats sit waiting for something like this to come along to give them confidence for winning the house is distressful.

the DNC is so out of touch with the people that they are in danger of actually LOSING seats instead of winning the 60 or MORE seats that people like Nate Silver at 538 have argued would be a rational expectation.

if the corporate dems lead by chuckie schumer and the horror “i dont think people want change”…pelosi…spent as much time creating a message and ACCEPTING change candidates who represent the voters interests.as they do in defeating them and attacking anyone viewed as progressive…there might be a ray of hope…but winning the house which is the ONLY way to stop tRump simply does not appear to be the democrats over riding intention.

remember these two parties act in unison regarding tax cuts for the rich…gross military spending…failure to insist on medicare for all…a living wage…etc.

from California to New York they have worked overtime ensuring that no candidate calling for ANY progressive issue…get to the ballot.

no new ideas…no plans to get voters to the polls…Especially African Americans and other minorities which will be the key to winning the house…no separation on the issues from schumer that matter to Americans …nothing but the 1000 elections losing “i dont think people want change”…pelosi…

these coming mid-terms are going to be a referendum on the country.
either the democrats win the house CONVINCINGLY…or the repiblicons under the fascist behavior of their leader…will consolidate their power to the point that anything resembling a party of opposition…will require leaders generations to come.

Republicans should be happy… If this comes to fruition they can say that they did uphold their promise to repeal ACA, using this backdoor… What a great thing to run on added to the tax cuts that go to the 1%, they can now screw the little guy out of his meager health insurance too… WOO HOOO… a Republican Landslide in November.

WHAT a bunch of dolts. Ds need to hang this shit around the R necks.

When terrorists attacked our country on 9/11/2001, little did they realize how much more effective the GOP would be at killing American citizens, curbing our rights, and gutting the rule of law.

It’s just the GOP version of Zyklon-B.

We all need to vote to keep the anvil next to those who, again, want insurance companies to deny coverage for preexisting conditions. This means any GOP politician who claims to the contrary needs to be identified as a liar. Get them all out of office.

They’ll never learn. Neither it appears will America. Whenever Republicans are allowed to take power they immediately respond by ripping our social fabric apart. They’re clearly compulsive.
