Discussion: GOP Despairs As Trump Doubles Down On Being Trump

The awakening begins. The nightmare continues.

This phony despair story is insulting. The GOP AGREES with Trump and the other primary “candidates.”

The pretense of remorse shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Trump is mesmerized by the big crowds that come to his rallies and thinks that with so many people cheering him he can’t lose.

No Republican candidate ever won as many primary votes as Trump.
He was the best candidate ever. What are these looser talking about?!
If the rest of the voters don’t like him, just work on shortening poll hours in strategic locations.

When the ego fails, it’s not easy to look ones own id squarely in the eye. Trump is the core of who you are GOP. Deal with it.

No! Even Uday and Qusay didn’t disavow their father.

Wonder which one of them was the “unnamed family member” who thought it would be a good idea to tweet the infamous taco bowl picture?

Maybe these spoiled bratty rich kids are finding out that they don’t know everything and money doesn’t buy it all.

The problem with blowing those dog whistles so loudly for so long is that now the flea-ridden mutts showed up and laid down in their collective bed. You made it; now lie in it.

“A what tornado?” CNN host Brianna Keilar asked Shapiro.

“A turd tornado,” former Breitbart editor Ben Shapiro answered, describing Trump. “It’s like a ‘Sharknado’ except with poop.”

Hey, GOP, reap the wind. Maybe make a shit sandwich. He’s all yours.

And having more bread for the sandwich doesn’t mean they will have to eat less shit.

The hiring of Bannon might be less important to Trump than the fact that Bannon’s money man is now solidly behind Trump: Robert Mercer, who has a long history of going after the Clintons.

As improbable as it seems, the campaign is now entering a phase that will be so dirty and vicious and criminally deceitful that the phase up till now will look like afternoon tea. I hope the Clinton camp is ready. Passivity is not an option.

Given the massive meltdown of the GOP, the current predictions that they will only lose about 10 seats in the House, retain 50 Senate seats, and control 32 state governorships should be quite heartening. Trump, Trump, Trump all day long, but very little attention to the pretty shitty cards Clinton is set to draw for her first two years in office.

When Trumpism fails, just get Trumpier. That’ll fix it.

Look at it this way: 80%+ of what Trump says and stands for the establishment Republicans agree with on.
-lower the minimum wage
-prevent all but white voting
-drop our affiliation with NATO
-enlarge our military and start more wars
-eliminate SS and Medicare/Medicade via a Obamacare repeal

I could go on but…

Erick Erickson:

Bannon coming onto the Trump campaign is just a doubling down on crazy. It means the Trump campaign has not really learned any lessons, does not really recognize its message is not a winning message, and it’s just going to go out in a blaze of conspiracy theory and bitterness.

We are now moving beyond a dumpster fire. We’re more at Chernobyl. The only thing that’ll be coming out of the Trump campaign by November are three headed rats, which is kind of fitting.
