Discussion: GOP CT Sen Candidate Apologizes For Mailer With Jewish Candidate Clutching Cash

Yeah, GOP anti-Semitism is unintended.

And the Angry Mobster’s attacks on Soros, Bloomberg, etc. were just coincidence.

“I’m sorry I got caught.”

He said his change of heart came after discussing the imagery with Jewish friends.

So wait, the campaign claimed to have members of the Jewish community that found nothing wrong with the mailer? The head of the CT GOP must have talked to different members of the Jewish Community…yeah, and he has Jewish friends.

He has many Jewish friends, of course…

If Charamut were truly repentant, he would have called Lesser to personally apologize. At a minimum, he would have used the first person in his press release “apology”.

Sorry, not good enough.

In point of fact, the candidate didn’t apologize. His campaign issued an unsigned statement written in third-person, not a statement from the candidate himself. It was a cowardly cop-out, and the headline saying the candidate has apologized is sadly in error.

Exactly. Even the article was clear that there had been no apology from the candidate himself. So who wrote this misleading headline? It seems to me so unworthy of TPM.

A few truths revealed

If Ed Charamut and his team really waddled their way through the creation of this amateurish and grotesque flier without grasping that it was going to shrilly shout out 'anti-Semitic " … well then they are the most obtuse, careless and sloppy individuals imaginable - if they think ‘it was NOT meant to be anti-Semitic’ should excuse them - then they are stupid - and incompetent …

Speaking of incompetence … people trusting Royko-Charamut Insurance to vigilantly and meticulously … carefully determine their need - not make any errors of omission or commission … may wonder how carefully their interests are being managed … and have to wonder if a mistake does happen - will Ed Charamut own up to it? or will he argue that since it was ‘not meant to be a mistake’ then he should be blameless?

Charamut had defended the mailer on Tuesday, saying it was only meant to draw a contrast between Lesser and his own fiscal conservatism.

LOL. They’re still pretending to be fiscally conservative? Really???

J.R. Romano, the state’s Republican Party chairman, issued a statement condemning the mailer, just hours after defending it and accusing Democrats of having “false outrage.” He said his change of heart came after discussing the imagery with Jewish friends.

“In a race with a Jewish candidate, this image should be recognized as offensive, raising classic anti-Semitic tropes,” he said. “It cannot be justified. I personally would not have approved this mailer, and I am grateful that the party did not approve it. I have requested to sit down with the ADL to broaden my understanding of and sensitivity to anti-Semitism.”

Whoa, I think I have whiplash. He first accused Democrats of “false outrage” yet claims he would not have approved of the mailer. Why not? If it was no big deal, why would he have not approved it?
Me thinks it’s Romana that is full of “false outrage” (now).

About as “Jewish” as that “rabbi” Mikey Pence found for his rally the other day…

Ed Charamut’s campaign staff posted a statement on social media, acknowledging the mailer had “serious unintended consequences.”

OK then… mission accomplished, you can’t undeliver the mail
