Discussion: GOP Candidate: Puerto Ricans Shouldn't 'Be Allowed' To Register To Vote In FL

Sounds almost exactly like what the New Hampshire Republicans are saying about how college students with out-of-state families shouldn’t be allowed to vote in the state because they’re not really residents.

Republicans really don’t like brown people

Well, Republican constitutional scholars strike again. And, that’s not at all how that works

Well, Jack, maybe if the GOP President had done his fucking job and not treated Puerto Rico like it was just a shithole, those people would have had power and water and food in a timely way and wouldn’t have had to establish residence where you are aw bummer. But there they are, fuckface. Got your rĂ©sumĂ© updated?

I agree, except that I think it has very little to do with whether or not these people from Puerto Rico are attending college in Florida. (Ixnay on the Spanish-speakers-ay
) In the end, it’s just one more example of Republicans trying to suppress “Democrat” voting. (I really wish these ignorant yahoos would learn to use the proper name of the party, it’s DemocratIC.)

“We should be looking to put the Puerto Ricans back in their homes,” he added, per Politico. “So the idea that they can come to the mainland United States, I don’t necessarily have a problem with that. But I think we should be thinking about it in terms of getting them back home and providing the capital and resources to rebuild Puerto Rico, which I honestly think is where they belong.”

Should have thought of that in the first place and they wouldn’t have had to flee. But nooooo
let them fend for themselves. Actions have consequences dude.

I forgot to add, Malcolm X
“Chickens coming home to roost.!”

Shorter GOP: “Brownies need to know their place.”

This is so delicious. Who could have predicted that by failing to provide sufficient disaster relief to Puerto Rico (while having no problem helping out, say, Houston), the Administration would precipitate a mass exodus to Florida, thereby making the State considerably more blue? Who, that is, other than anyone with an ounce of sense.

Typical GOP appealing to the voters feeling economic pressure

Sounds more like “those animals should not be allowed to vote” to me

That audience looks like the epitome of empathy and knowledge of law.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is not aware nuking Puerto Rico would be illegal.

You wonder if he complains about older folks from Northern states aka Snowbirds who relocate to Florida and vote there as well as take advantage of Medicaid as dual eligibles.

Montana would know how to treat them.

“Hey you, speak American!!”

I was going to come up with something pithy and snarky, but reading those comments again, all I can really think of is ‘Go fuck yourself’.

Franchise for the browns? Ewww!

Just because we fucked over Puerto Rico and they have no place left to go, doesn’t mean they should be able to vote wherever they are.

“if a natural disaster displaced me from Florida to some other state temporarily, I’d still want to vote by absentee in FL, my home community and voter registration, and not elsewhere.”

Humm - so abide by simpleton thinking? spew double talk much?

if you found yourself to ‘temporarily’ have to live & work in some other state for 18 months - 2 years - 3 years
because you need to accumulate enough savings to even consider returning to your old home
would you ignore local law & not obtain a driver’s license in this new state? - ignore local laws and not get a local license for your dog
would you live indefinitely with having your mail forwarded - or would you - for what ever period of time it might be - actually follow convention and become a resident of the place where you live?

This dude is a fool

Oh, thanks for your generous permission to allow citizens to freely travel within their own country.

For some people, it is far better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt. The GOP is dead, just as dead as this moron’s thinking processes.

Register people to vote. Get to the polls. Throw these ignorant bums OUT!
