Discussion for article #225186

The primary season has just begun in Arizona… should be interesting! A real shitshow.

Riggs, a former policeman and deputy sheriff, told TPM that in his opinion the rally was a "mostly polite and respectful exchange of views" between both immigration activists and protesters.

Right. Just like “sidewalk counseling” at abortion clinics is a “mostly polite and respectful exchange of views” about how the woman is a murderer and is going to Hell.

Has the entire state of Arizona gone barking mad?

He was at a loss because the protesters left their white hoods at home.

Dammit, you got to it before I could.

“Militia? Oh, you mean my sturmabteilung? They’re haaaaaaarmlesssssss, honest…”

Sorry, woke up early. I’m sure the day will provide more comment-worthy bizarreness.

Not quite the whole state, but enough to justify a commitment order.

Vote Dammit!

Armed men? Where? Accompanying me? What? Damn those stupid cellphone cams!!

Well, it must be some kind of mistake, I swear I never even talked to any of them.

Wow! Deliberate ignorance on display. He didn’t ask for them, need them, or even want them, but he kept them.
After all, you never know when a busload of terrified children might turn on you.
Is it just me, or is the collective IQ of the state of Arizona dropping with every word this idiot speaks?

Yeah, obviously when a group of blackshirted, heavily armed men starts hanging around me, I automatically assume they’re there for my personal benefit. Doesn’t everyone?

Must be one of those, “Birds of a feather…” things.

Oh, and Frank? Real stylin’ Hitler moustache you got growing there. Should play well to your militia base.

So we’re at a point where political candidates have an armed militia following them around at public events? Why do I also have the feeling that roughly half of the country is in support of this?*

*But only if the candidate is white and conservative.

In a Wednesday phone interview with TPM, the gubernatorial candidate said had no idea who the armed men were. He said he neither brought them with him nor had he asked for their services. But he acknowledged the men were by his side during the rally and were guarding him

Maybe it’s just me, but if I were somewhere and a group kept following me, I think at some point I’d ask who they were and why they were there. Especially if I were running for governor.

Old, white, grey hair, bad skin, worse fashion sense.

GOPers in AZ. What a sad sack. They’re dying off at an incredible rate. Soon the state will be blue.

Who does he thinks believes this cock and bull story? Sounds a lot like the TP Senate candidate in KY who did not know he was attending a cock fighting rally. Or maybe the TP candidate in MS who said he was not aware of the Confederate rally he attended until caught on camera. I tell these guys kill me…

Maybe he thought they were just the common ammosexual groupies that follow all political candidates and want to have sex with him.

Aw c’mon Frank. Who you trying to kid? This is ARIZONA; the state with a tradition of loony governors.

Remember Evan Mecham? WE do.
