That picture of Cruz makes me want to tear his eyes out. A more sebaceous pile of disingenuous filth may never have existed.

ā€œThe whole purpose of this is to adjudicate their claims very quickly and make a determination whether they have a valid asylum claim or if they can be deported,ā€

The whole purpose of this is to deport them as quickly and with as little recourse to due process as possible and cut off the flow of brown people into this country by rewriting the asylum rules to create a legal standard impossible for them to meet.

Compassionate conservatism.
Good phrase. Rethugs always win messaging wars. Then enact evil ass shit that is the exact opposite of what their slogans say.

One of the unfortunate side-effects of so many people buying into Trump’s ā€œsuccessful businessmanā€ persona is that now he is in the White House, and only knows how to extort, intimidate and collude, these mob tactics are becoming normalized as the way of doing business.

Even now, as the Republicans prepare to do the right thing, their concern is: ā€œWhat will you give me to do the ā€˜right thing’?ā€

So which part of the legislation rewrites The New Collosus?

I’m going to put this here. We’re living this nightmare all over again. I saw this two years ago, produced by a high school senior about the Japanese internment camps. Well worth the view! I encourage everyone to see this. 12 minutes.

Ex Parte Endo

Seriously! The rhetoric used during WWII against Japanese Americans is frighteningly similar to what we’re witnessing today. Brutally frightening!

So Trump takes one of the most extreme positions possible on immigration and splits families. The Republicans craft a ā€˜compromise’ bill that gives them everything they want, fixes the separation problem by keeping the whole family together in a cage and pretty much stops non-white immigration. And if it fails… they can blame the failure on the Dems in the press for not supporting the ā€˜compromise’.

I’d say this has no chance of working but this is America, so either enough ā€œbig tent, red stateā€ Dems will jump on board and give the Republicans what they want, or FOX and the corporate media will convince about half the population its the Dems fault kids are in cages in the end.

He’s such a sniveling coward he can’t bring himself to sign a piece of paper but goes to House Republicans, who he thinks he can hide behind. Then when they can’t agree, he’ll howl. Rinse and repeat.

They don’t need to keep them locked up at considerable expense. Most return for their hearings.

Then there’s this from DK: Contract vehicles are one of the mechanisms the U.S. government uses to award contracts to vendors. The data reviewed by Yahoo News was for a contract vehicle called ā€œShelter Care for Unaccompanied Children 2022.ā€ This included 10 different contracts for up to approximately $92 million that were awarded to five different vendors starting in September 2017. The contracts include plans to operate the shelters through September 2022.

Not one Dem should sign on to this. Not one.

Let the GOP twist in the wind on this topic. The Dems should keep their hands out of it and let the GOP pass it with their majority in the House and the Senate.

The Dems can’t obstruct this, as the GOP doesn’t need their votes.

And this becomes a campaign issue going forward.

ā€œThey’re seeking refuge, for God sakes. What we’re doing is immoral.ā€ - Steny Hoyer

Well, "that’s why god invented federal courts. They can go litigate that.ā€ - The other John Kennedy

And we’ll give them 14 days to prepare their case. - Ted Cruz

Which is more than enough time, ā€œFor in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them.ā€

How does keeping mother and child together take away due process? That statement in the article makes no sense. Keeping families together while being deported means we don’have a kid left behind which is what is happening now, dammit.
This trump made humanitarian crisis can be fixed with a phone call but trump so far too bigoted to do it.

I hope this is correct, no i am praying this is correct. All hope for this administration is over. I heard a baptist preacher was saying that Trump was ordained by God for this job, it was God’s will to be President, so anything Trump did while in office was ordained by God, approved by God, What else is to be said about the religious right?
also, when on child is kidnapped, there is an Amber Alert, What happens when thousands are kidnapped by our government? It is God’s will.

'Suffer the little children to come unto me" No. Really. They should suffer.

Sounds like a correct interpretation of the Bible by this fool.
