Discussion: GOP AG Candidate Was Described As 'Train Wreck' By His Old Law Firm

I’ve decided that if I win the lottery, I’m going to find myself a comfortable but not lavish flat within 10 minutes walk of the Viktualienmarkt - and the Paulaner.

At least the aristocracy in bygone years supposedly had the sense to put their useless offspring in positions where they couldn’t do too much harm.

Don’t laugh. Given the quality of the GOTP bench, this guy might actually be considered if he wins this November.

A perfect representative of the Party of Dunning-Krueger.

Just one of many legacies from Domenici.

Have Dewey, Cheatham and Howe finally gone out of business?

I think those are two bullet points in the job requirements for a GOP pol.

Any doubt that the law firm hired him because of his “blood lines”?

Failing upward – it’s the Republican way.

I once worked with a programmer like that. Had not a clue how to do even very simple, routine things, but thought she was God’s gift to IT. And yes, someone had to babysit every single thing she did. Miserable.

Put him in charge of the Obama impeachment efforts.

The Leadership and Governance of our small international school achieved the same mark during accreditation last year. Thankfully, the administration has been turned over to a competent professional this year. Every other section of the report had numerous positive marks.

as I understand it, mr. laxalt has a J.D. from Georgetown University Law School. Considered a “Tier I” law school, it has an acceptance rate of around 20%. Considering Mr. Laxalt’s evaluation, two reasonable questions arise: 1. however did he gain entry to Georgetown?, and 2. how the hell did he graduate, and then pass the bar exam? my first thought was that mr. laxalt is very good at regurgitating specific information. this would explain his LSAT score, doing well enough to graduate and passing the bar exam, all of which require a lot of memorization, not being particularly creative or a deep thinker. he was also a JAG attorney, a pretty prestigious position, but one which focuses on the Uniform Code of Military Justice, not civilian law, and which is apparently a tough transition into civilian law, as noted in the article. maybe he was an excellent JAG attorney, and is just having significant problems making that switch? however, what makes me wonder are the comments regarding his poor judgment, and his difficulties with procedural basics, issues that would seem to cross the lines between JAG and civilian law. this would be the “basic skill set” referred to in his evaluation. worse, the massive disconnect between his view of himself, and everyone else’s

you know, the more I think about it, the more I realize he’s a classic republican nominee for public office.

“Thinks he is a better litigator than both Franklin AND Bash. Even I explained to him ad nauseum that he was not in either’s league, he continued to insist that he could defeat both Franklin and Bash.”

Is the point of this article that he is or isn’t a highly qualified GOP candidate?

In German laxalt means slacking goober I believe.

Reminds me of (GHW Bush’s veep) Dan Quayle’s offspring Ben Quayle. Ben ran an ad, when he was running for Congress, showing himself with a baseball bat and saying he was gonna “shake up Washington”.

How the hell can a Georgetown Law graduate be such a poor attorney?

They say the document was improperly, and perhaps illegally “leaked.”

If it were a fake, it couldn’t be leaked. It would just be fake.

Just sayin’.

So, Pete Domenici’s bastard son is just as idiotic as his father! Lovely!

Another loser for the GOP. Yeaaaaa
