Huh?
This is too negative. How do Democrats âmotivateâ then what is the positive side? You brought this up yourself.
Who the fuck are they to say Obama canât do what he was elected to do?
Cruz would most likely nominate Michelle Bachmann, is that motivation enough?

Donât bother telling Carson, he wonât understand.
[/quote] They already consulted him; check the story 8th paragraph!
Neurosurgeon Ben Carson was asked to speak to what the Constitution says about the current scenario, since Carson wrote a book about the Constitution.
If writing a book (or far more likely, having it ghost-written for him) is a big credential, why donât they also consult lecturers on the subject? The Bundy tribe has spoken prolifically on the Constitution, and without notes!
I cannot find the place where I read it, but I clearly remember that she had made a comment (which was perhaps reported second-hand) that she was concerned about the type of justices Democrats would appoint, and that was a factor in her resignation.
In any case Ginsburg has been really shortsighted on this issue. When liberals pushed her to resign before the 2014 midterm elections, while the Senate was still Democratic, she refused. Then, right after the midterms in which Democrats lost, she said:
I asked some people, particularly the academics who said I should have stepped down last year: 'Who do you think the president could nominate and get through the current Senate that you would rather see on the court than me? No one has given me an answer to that question. As long as I can do the job, I will stay here.
Well, that is why you should have resigned before!
Now she is going to take the risk of possibly having a Republican president when she leaves, which will be within the next 4-5 years. All the brilliant opinions and dissents that she is writing now, will not be worth the paper they are written on if she is replaced by a Republican.
Particularly the oligarchs who fund most of the Republican senators.
But Obama is a capable president. Heâll pick someone moderate and well known, and that will make Republicans think twice about how bad it will look to say no.
We could wind up with a female Thomas on the court.
OK, if you wonât have a vote for a court nominee, Obama should withdraw all lower federal court nominees in every red state. Letâs see how they like the justice system in their states backing up due to their own obstructionism.
Didnât Mary Karr write a book about these guys?
Sorry, but every time I see her in that crowd, I am more proud to be a citizen.
Something about Ruth makes me feel good about America, she gives me hope that one day our government really WILL look like the people they are supposed to represent.
If they obstruct the President on this one, they will look like desperate losers by the time the election rolls around.
But, then, maybe that is why this all happened.
Just how do the evangelicals justify this âAct of God?â
Oh, when a conservative dies, it is âthe devil at work.â
Had it been a liberal judge, it would most certainly have been âGodâs will.â
Hypocrites!
I will repeat myself
What legal or logical arguments exists for making a newly elected POTUS more eligible/fit/whatever to appoint a SCOTUS than a twice elected POTUS ?
His reelection must count for something, right ?
thereâs the problem⌠those should be synonymous but they are not.
I can add âmoralâ if that helpsâŚ
"once again, Republicans are playing politics with our Supreme Court.
Not only are they willing to shut our government down completely just to appease their misguided, irrational supporters, they now intend to leave the most powerful and vital judicial bench in the history of humankind shorthanded, just to promote their billionaire welfare agenda."
the Senate needs to âstand strongâ?
they are doing the exact opposite by obstructingâŚ
Cruz is always doing the doublespeak thing first. If Orwell ever anticipated a snake in sheepâs clothing, there he is.
Which is why the Congress will keep themselves in session precisely to prevent that. They have done it before. Just another obstruction tactic.
