It is a relatively cheap way to get pro-biz legislation passed at the state level because those legislators will vote aye/nay for much less payola. ALEC writes the legislation, of course.

Yes. But companies making money hand over fist don’t need to do this shit. They are, like members of Congress who will not help end tax breaks for gas and oil companies, working against both the larger economy and national security.

The Pentagon, not the most progressive of government entities, has been strategizing on how to prepare for the physical manifestations of climate change for at least five years now.

I wonder if the pendulum has started swinging back in the other direction and we don’t ‘see’ it yet? Think about it; gay issues have won, women issues are being seriously discussed anti-abortion groups have ‘jumped the shark’ in equating birth conroll with abolition and now ALEC is on the run. Five years ago none of this would have been discussed in the media. Things are changing folks.

Had I known they had those ties int he first place, I’d have boycotted their products across the board. I mean, what the flying fucking pigshit is Google doing associating with ALEC in the first place? A bigger group of radicalized conservative ideologues hellbent on plutocracy probably doesn’t exist…oh wait…

Correction for Dylan: I don’t think it’s accurate or fair to refer to Common Cause as a “liberal” organization. CC has always been strenuously non-partisan and has avoided being tagged as liberal or conservative. It’s a good government, open government organization, which has almost always had a lot more business than union support.
