Discussion: Goodell: NFL Anthem Policy Remains Same Although 'Everyone Should Stand'

The most under-reported aspect of this story is that the relationship between the players and the owners is defined by a collective bargaining agreement.

If the CBA doesn’t say the players must be on the field standing for the anthem, then the player do not have to be on the field standing for the anthem. The team can bench them, or release them I suppose, but I’m guessing they can’t fine them, which is why the owners are squirming so much.

And let’s not forget, the players are the product. You can’t bench or release everyone, and especially your top talent.

I hate the NFL so I’m really enjoying this.

Well Trumpsters, your fake patriotism no longer matters to the NFL!

Websters Dictionary is updating the definition of “wishy-washy” to include a photo and biography of Roger Goodell…

Jones has said any Dallas player who doesn’t stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner” would not be playing.

What if the player beats the crap out of his girlfriend? That seems to count for something with the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones fricking knelt down with his players to show solidarity albeit prior to the anthem, he still locked arms with them.

He has zero credibility now to feign his faux patriotic horseshit especially considering the fact that the entire military involvement is a commercialized, for profit scam.
The owners, including Jones, profit from these supposed patriotic rituals and none of it is even included in any charter or bargaining agreement.

In fact, one of the very reasons for the CBA, is so mega-wealthy and powerful owners can’t impose their own moralistic BS on the players because they have control over them via paycheck.

The nature and origins of unions are thus. The players have power collectively, as a commodity and with their own combined wealth.

Will they close the concession (beer) stands so all customers and workers can go up to the playing area and honor our flag, and troops, American, and God? Why am I even asking. The customers and workers are already standing, so glug, glug, glug. America.
