Discussion: Giuliani: Tapes Show Cohen ‘Explaining Something’ Trump ‘Doesn’t Understand’

"To me it sounds like Cohen is explaining something to [Trump] that he doesn’t understand,” Giuliani told The Washington Post on Tuesday evening, shortly after Michael Cohen’s lawyer gave CNN a copy of the recordings. “He doesn’t seem that familiar with anything. There is nothing to indicate he knew anything in advance.”

Except the fact that he doesn’t seem surprised, doesn’t ask questions, doesn’t say “WTF are you talking about?” and is very matter of fact discussing a payoff to buy silence that he wants to make in cash through a shell company to avoid scrutiny and campaign finance laws.

“There’s no way the President is going to be setting up a corporation and then using cash, unless you’re a complete idiot,” he told Fox News.

BINGO!

Hmm …

COHEN: And, I’ve spoken to Allen Weisselberg about how to set the whole thing up with …

TRUMP: So, what do we got to pay for this? One-fifty?

COHEN: … Funding . . . Yes. Um, and it’s all the stuff.

TRUMP: Yeah, I was thinking about that.

Man, Ghouliani should apply for a job at the Rockettes – his tap-dancing is world class.

Dickhead.

OT but funny: Butt-baring N-word-swearing GOP Rep Jason Spencer has indeed resigned after Sacha Baron Cohen’s film of him showing his true self.

But the funniest part (for me, anyway) is that poor little Jason is going to suffer consequences:

Gee, maybe he might be interested in an ACA plan… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

There’s something about Giuliani that, despite the greater good of our country, makes me want to call up Mr. Flood and say, “You know, your guy is really not helpful to your cause.”

But then that impulse passes and I say, “Carry on.”

There isn’t enough tape in the galaxy to contain explanations of all the things Dotard “Doesn’t Understand”.

I guess we’re taking a break from his being a stable genius who, because of his extensive business experience, is the only one who can solve our problems. This week we’re pretending that he doesn’t understand how these things work.
Uh, huh.

Two mistakes here: Wrong headline and burying the lede.

The headline should be: Giuliani: Trump is a complete idiot.

And the lede should be:

“There’s no way the President is going to be setting up a corporation and then using cash, unless you’re a complete idiot,” he [Giuliani] told Fox News.

I haven’t seen Flood’s name in the news recently—have you?
Maybe he’s underwater from all the hits to Trump?!

8 years gets you healthcare for life? Jeebus. I’d retire now if it weren’t for the cost of healthcare, I’ve been working in government for 25 years.

I’m feeling especially punchy today…

Are you suggesting that Flood could actually do something about it?

But then that impulse passes and I say, “Carry on.”

Is Giuliani as hapless as he appears to be? Or more so?

I’m not entirely sure.

I think the most useful lens through which to view his actions is to assume that everything he is doing is part of a legal strategy to protect someone with significant legal worries regarding his conduct in the Trump 2016 campaign: Rudy himself.

Will this help you decide? Giuliani says “don’t quote me on that” in the middle of a live, televised interview.

DJT: “It was a discussion about Cohen going out for coffee, wasn’t it? Isn’t a cup $1.50 these days. I wouldn’t know.”

When Giuliani said Cohen was explaining something that Trump “doesn’t” understand, he meant to say “does”.

I think that clears it up.

You know Cohen and David released the most innocuous (relatively speaking) tape first. I predict a drop a week for the next 12 weeks, ending with a Grand Finale. Or, at least I hope so.

…is explaining something to [Trump] that he doesn’t understand,” Giuliani told The Washington Post on Tuesday … “He doesn’t seem that familiar with anything. There is nothing to indicate he knew anything in advance.”

These statements could describe just about everything Trump says and does as president.

@lizzymom - great catch on the significance of Spencer resigning now. Anyone dumb enough to think that hopping backwards while mooning a terrorist and yelling “USA! Drop your gun!” is a legitimate anti-terrorism tactic - never should have ever been elected in the first place.

“Explaining something Trump does not understand”…

After ruling out going potty and various sexual acts, this statement could be about anything…
