Discussion: Giuliani Says Trump May Refuse Potential Mueller Subpoena Or Plead Fifth

“I came into this case with the desire to do that, and they just keep convincing me not to do it,” Giuliani said, though he’s worked as Trump’s attorney for less than a month.

So, Rudy, why did t rump hire you? You admit they do not seek your legal advice.

Giuliani’s remarks might play an evidentiary role in Clustefuck Traitor’s inevitable impeachment, but at the end of the day, I feel confident that Trump is the one who will get Trump impeached.

It shouldn’t, because though he and Flynn shat the bed with that allegation of calling for it means ‘you’re guilty’, its his right to plead the fifth.

Now if Mueller has evidence that forces Trump to answer, then Trump’s answer maybe leads to impeachment.

Stephanopoulos asked later whether Giuliani was “confident the President will not take the Fifth [Amendment] in this case?”

How could I ever be confident in that?” Giuliani said. “When I’m facing a situation with the President and all the other lawyers are, in which every lawyer in America thinks he would be a fool to testify.”

Right, but again I say, impeachment & prosecution doesn’t mean “You’re guilty. Go directly to jail.” It means, “You’re FIRED.”

Edited to Add:

Also, taking the Fifth doesn’t mean “I won’t testify because I don’t have to.” It means “I won’t testify because I’ve done things that may be against the law and get me arrested.”

One would think such an admission is, in and of itself, grounds for firing the person in charge of executing our nation’s laws.

…that is no longer the case he is going to get Trump impeached.

The mystery is, will Guiliani be named as an indicted or unindisted co-conspirator?

Hey, Rudy! Have Trump plead the 35th, since Donald has always seemed to think he’s at least 7 times better than any other human being on earth anyway.

Man, if any other person fucked up at their job as these walking doorknobs in the Trump administration do, they would be unemployable everywhere. They would have to travel to a parallel dimension to find a job.

Sarah: “President Trump never pleaded the 5th. He simply invoked his right against self-incrimination.”

Though it would be ironic for him to do that, he has the right to plead the fifth. Now a Democratic Congress could go after him over that, but whether its Pelosi, Joe Crowley, or Tim Ryan, I doubt that leadership will make a 5th Amendment issue part of a possible impeachment case.

no it doesn’t.

Pleading the 5th means a person has the right to not answer any uncomfortable legal questions.

Now he has the right to plead the fifth, but even Giuliani knows that Mueller will likely have the evidence to counter that tactic.

I hope you get a big, fat, cheque when Fox News starts using that as their new slogan.

“not after the way they’ve acted.”

Translation:
It’s really terrible – the Mueller team has forgotten that they’re supposed to create drama and draw attention to the precedent. Instead, they’re upstaging him and jeopardizing his role. Unless they can be brought back on script, we may have to try and ignominiously write them out of the show! If we can’t do that, we’re not gonna join in sharing the spotlight!
Except for the part about taking the Fifth, this is really that crazy.

Add, Giuliani needs to understand, this is not about Giuliani.

This morning Jake Tapper tried to get Roy Blunt to admit that Trump’s lying was unacceptable. Being the Loyalist, Blunt would only say that Trump had a different way of communicating. Really? Is that what we’re calling it now? This should be fun in the next 6 months as Trump tries to bluff his way past Mueller. And all the more reason to see Trump’s tax information.
