The late, great Wayne Barrett of The Village Voice once did a biographical piece on Rudy Giuliani, after the myth of the great crusading (and publicity hungry) US Attorney for the SDNY had been etched in Media stone. One big reveal was that Rudy’s father was a bartender and a Mob Loan Shark Goon/Enforcer, who would break people’s bones if they were delinquent in their payments of the Vig. One can imagine Giuliani Senior telling someone, “I know where you live. I am going to hurt your wife and children.” And then, " Hey! I was just joshing. That’s what I am supposed to do. What am I supposed to say? That you can pay late every week? Sorry, I’m not a sucker."

One thing you have to admit about Trump and his henchmen—they put the fun back in politics. Whether its obstruction of justice, becoming a dictatorship, abusing women or what have you, they’re always making great jokes. The child separation issue should be a gold mine of comic material for this crew.
