so…Rudy admits that Manafort is guilty, it sounds like.
“I think I spent more days in detention in high school than Judge Ellis thinks that Paul Manafort should spend in jail for what he did to defraud the United States,” Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA)
Made his bones prosecuting the mafia in NY using the RICO statute and the irony here is that PP’s organization could be deemed a criminal organization (for all the reasons we talk about) and prosecuted using the RICO statute again.
Laurence Tribe constitutional law professor who has brought a suit against the trumpets on behalf of El Paso County says this.
Manafort’s sentence might seem short, but to be fair, his conviction will prevent him from joining Space Force.
Now he can get back to the important job of making it look like he has no gray hair. We can expect him to jump miraculously out of the wheelchair too.

Think consecutive. Not concurrent.
And Mueller has not even filed conspiracy charges yet. THAT’s the crime that will take them all down. Flynn, Cohen, Manafort and Stone have all been charged with crimes committed while trying to cover their tracks, but not the root crime… yet. No US citizen has been charged with conspiracy… yet.
Think about this… Mueller’s team proved to a federal judge that Manafort’s lies go right to the heart of the investigation. They have proof. He has not been charged, but he will. And his co-conspirators, too. I just wish I knew why they’re waiting.
A pardon could put Manafort in legal jeopardy since he could be compelled to testify about the criminal organization in residence at the WH and not be able to take the Fifth. Or clam up and have that taken obstruction of justice (if I’m mistaken, I know one of the legals will correct me pronto).
Yeah that’s pretty rare. And if she gives him a sentence of a decent length then she won’t stack them I don’t think. But it won’t matter if she hands down a juicy 20 years or so.
Since when did designer sage green become the preferred color of prisoner jump suits?
What happened to orange or even stripes?
Wasn’t 10 the max???
I believe that color is called Olive Drab. Seriously.
Tactical camouflage is all the rage.
Couldn’t they find a neck brace for Manafort before they wheeled him into court?
Among the many ailments he claims he has, psoriasis is one of them which is a bitch to treat even with regular dermatologist care and medication. Will Manafort serve the three years or so this conviction amounts to? Or early release based on health issues?
Also I think as someone else posed, 10 years is the max sentence Jackson could impose.
I don’t know - you apparently do.
Yeah - 10. @littlegirlblue
He has psoriasis? Cry me a river. God. Gout and psoriasis are supposed to get him leniency and mercy?
I’m guessing his cell will have a prime view of the difficult 18th hole at some Federal Country Club “prison”.
William Jefferson got 13 years for “similar” white collar bribery of foreign officials ($90K involved).
Manafort got <5 years for $55M involved.
Crystal Mason got 5 years for voting while on parole in Texas.
Individual 1 and 3 are black. Individual 2 is white and connected.
Fits a documented trend for racial bias in sentencing.
Would an appeal for early release based on health issue or any other be heard by Ellis? If he hasn’t dropped dead by that time.
