I’m sure she does, and up to now was certainly not the time to secure her legacy, which would have been trashed pretty quickly. As for concerns about her ability to know when it’s time, let’s talk about others, even younger ones, whose time should have come a long time ago. I don’t think her mind is going at all. Her heart certainly isn’t, and her integrity is rock solid.
I love her - she’s my favorite justice by a mile. Everyone makes mistakes.
Just one more reason I’m glad the Jets got rid of the ridiculous blowhard. The man has no idea how to develop a young QB.
This is getting to be a habit and will not help RBG’s legacy once she retires. I support her and admire her but wonder if sometimes she isn’t sipping some of that good wine she and her good friend Antonin used to share. Just wondering. And no, I didn’t support or admire Scalia.
This makes two Justices that Hillary will get to pick. RBG is wise and will know when it’s time to call I quits.
Say hello to my little friend, the liberal court.
One minority’s experience is not another’s. I expected her to appreciate that.
I hate to say this, but everytime Ginsburg makes one of these apologies she reminds me of the character that Ruth Buzzy used to play on Laugh In. The old lady would hit someone with a purse and then say something like “Nevermind” when they asked her why she did it.
Or am I getting her mixed up with Gilda?
Oh, nevermind.
Unlike a certain candidate for President, Justice Ginsburg knows how to formulate an actual, sincere apology. Maybe she should give Hillary’s Opponent a lesson? Oh, I forgot, you can’t teach those who refuse to learn. Good on RBG, let’s make sure her replacement is not a low-class version of Antonin Scalia. #voteblue
Deliberating-that’s the role of a judge. When one is asked a question, gives a quick flip answer, they have failed to deliberate. RBG realized her error. She had not deliberated the national anthem’s words and meaning to those protesting, and she admitted her error. She would not have done this before deciding a case. Her history on the court reveals this. Case closed. Move on.
Yes. While this is true when she’s acting as a judge, she wasn’t at work at the time. This was a quick opinion that had nothing to do with a court case, and yes, it was a bit too flip, but she walked it back right away. I don’t really see the problem. Good grief, who hasn’t shot off his/her mouth prematurely on some issue or other? RBG is human, above all, and she’s usually reasonably careful about what she says anyway.
We have a black justice?
Inarguably a great Justice, but she is 83 years old, and is apparently beginning to like the spotlight and the feeling of being a political pundit a little too much. I hope Clinton wins and Dems take the Senate so Ginsberg can gracefully end her career by retiring.
“beginning to like the spotlight”… after years of Scalia you can say this about a mere handful of public comments? LOL And as the Grande Dame of the SCOTUS she’s entitled anyway.
I wasn’t comdemning her, but merely explaining. I understand the slip of the tongue and regret. Indeed, it was not a particularly egregious comment.
No problem.
