The last chapter in Callista’s book is thrilling. An elf in Macy’s Santa Playland stabs a Muslim child to death to the tune of the Star Spangled Banner. Brings tears to your eyes, I tellya!
What utter BS. Gingrich is the one who first floated the idea of being Speaker again, and he is the one who kept trying to blow air into that lead zeppelin hoping it would get off the ground.
It didn’t.
And now, Mr. Historian is once again trying to rewrite history to make himself look good.
Newt was a self aggrandizing, immoral little prick when he was Speaker, so much so that it got him tossed out by his own party. The only thing that has changed for him, is he now actually gets half of the Springsteen song “Glory Days”. He just didn’t get the meta message which is, people that cling to those days are really annoying.
Newt wouldn’t be able to grift as effectively if he were saddled with Speaker duties.
When people see “Duplicity” on Gingrich’s book they’re no doubt going to think it’s an autobiography.
She stole David Sedaris’ Macy’s Santa Land elf?
I’ve never felt so disappointed.
Are those marshmellow muslims?
Are marshmallows halal?
It’s hard to decide who is the bigger traitor, Gingrich or Hastert; but between the two of them they established the partisanship, rules, and burn-it-down politics that broke Congress. Which one said compromise is the same as date rape? Which one made it impossible for Democrats and Republicans to fight for their point of view all day, then join their opponents in taking their wives to dinner? Which one decided that if they could not pass something with Republican votes alone, it would not get a vote? Really, the terrorists of 9-11 did not do the kind of damage to our way of life that Hastert and Gingrich did.
Listen-up, Congress, the scandal-ridden failure that was Speaker before he resigned in disgrace and faced a an ethics probe has something to say!
“Christmas is America”
Wait, that sounds exactly like the title of the book (the old) Stephen Colbert would come out with to put in your Christmas stocking.
Ah, okay, you had me going there a minute – just checked and the real title is actually “Christmas in America” but it’s an understandable mistake…
“If you were to say to me ‘218 [Republicans] have called you up and
given you their pledge,’ obviously no citizen could ever turn down that
kind of challenge,” Gingrich told Sean Hannity, who asked the question
first. “This is why George Washington came out of retirement—because
there are moments you can’t avoid.”
Wanna bet Newt? I can turn down the Speakership…
“This is why George Washington came out of retirement—because there are moments you can’t avoid.”
I hear the circus is looking for a new clown. Probably another moment Newt shouldn’t avoid.
Its really one of those horrible choices to make, but Gingrich is clearly the worse, if only because Hasert was a creature of Delay’s creation and animation. DeLay wanted to be the king maker in the shadows, and the so-called Hasert Rule was pretty much his idea.
Gingrich was a fire bomber from way back. The GOP was fine with that, until they realized just how much the man was driven by his oversized selfish ego. When the shutdown that cost them the majority was revealed to be all because Gingrich felt slighted by the Air Force One controversy, the party basically said they had enough, and he was dumped.
Isn’t the Hassert rule, “If I pay you off, will you shut your mouth about me molesting you when I was your wrestling coach”?
“This is about a Republican party nationally, which is totally unhappy with their national leadership and which is communicating that it wants profound change from the way I set it up and directed it”
FIFY
Duplicity? Isn’t that the definition of his sexual affairs, numerous infidelities and divorces? That’s not fiction. With Ginghrich it is history.
Don’t you mean the elf asks his wife to sign a divorce while she’s in a hospital undergoing chemotherapy so he can marry his mistress? Stabbed her straight through the heart.
