Discussion: Gillibrand Spars With Fox News Host Who Kept Interrupting Her During Town Hall

So basically, “we invited you, you’ve got to be nice to us”.

But Warren is the “problem” for not accepting.

And Wallace is one of the “fair” and “moderate” hosts.

Gillibrand’s points are good and I like some of her phrasing. But judging from polls, I’m afraid she might not be the best messenger for her messages. I hope the eventual winner can adopt some of her thinkings.

“I’m not sure it’s frankly very polite when we’ve invited you to be here,” he snapped.”

Guess the memo from the home office made it down to the troops.

Wallace interupts constantly, while she politely rebukes him. Speaks volumes.

Don’t let women at the table. Don’t let them talk. Don’t let their voices be heard.
All while pretending to be a news source.

Not only was Gillibrand polite, she did it while speaking of the obsurdity of the anti-abortion Republican men infanticide argument.

Dripping irony.

Gillenbrand had to take questions from a Republican operative, Chris Wallace, at her Democratic Primary town hall. That is the only way to describe it. Chris Wallace is an agent of the Fox News corporation. Fox News is an appendage of the Republican party, with the former Republican house speaker a member of their board.

While Gillenbrand handled this well, she shouldn’t have been there in the first place. My support will be for candidates like Warren and Harris, who don’t feed the Fox beast.

Wallace acted like a true Fox host. The question about whether men should also get invited to the table was plain snark. She answered well, and drove her point home by speaking about being inclusionary not exclusionary - a concept probably not familiar to the Fox family of esteemed journalists.

If you can’t criticize a channel when invited to be on it, then I wonder what Team Trump has to say when they’re on channels other than FOX.

Geez, unitl now i didn’t realize that Gillibrand hadn’t qualified for the debates yet.

Which would explain why a women so principled she would crucify an ally like Al Franken, would whore herself for contributions and attention by doing a Town Hall for misogyny central AKA FoxNews

Wallace likes to pretend that he is a force for conscientious journalism within FOX … it makes him feel better as he prostitutes himself and his journalistic integrity … in reality he is even more toxic than the gaggle of obvious white supremacists … he is a fraud who trades upon the equity of a family name, history and a set of perceptions - perceptions that are sustained simply by ancient memories …

It sounds like the basic ground rules for going on Fox in a Town Hall format need to be revisited. The moderator ought not comment in this way… a Town Hall is about allowing the people in the audience to ask questions, isn’t it? In such a proper format, the Fox host should have to read aloud at the outset the ground rules which have been agreed upon by Fox and the guest. If Fox won’t do that, then fuggetaboutitt.

There is no principle that Gillibrand will not happily adopt for the sake of expediency and self-promotion.

The “will men be at the table” moment is where Gillibrand should have gone after FoxNews and Wallace personally. I mean, if she had said to Wallace “I’m here discussing women’s issues, and you’re not merely interrupting me, but doing so for snide comment? You need to learn to take women seriously, and stop being such a jerk, because right now, if your boss was a woman, you’d be filling out a claim for unemployment.”

But she had pre-programmed her attack on Fox to coincide with the inevitable abortion question (and the attack itself sounded forced. )

“What about men?”

LOL! They do this CONSTANTLY on Faux News. It’s one of their favorite logical fallacies: stating one thing automatically means exclusions of the other.

Ummm, no, it doesn’t.

Dislike her all you want, and I will add I’m not particularly a huge fan of hers, but her comment about infanticide directed at Faux was truly remarkable for its poignancy . The level of misdirection and disingenuousness Faux spews on a daily basis with regards to women’s rights and reproductive health is so full of shit, she may have done wrong by Franken and frankly the Democratic party…but she’s spot on about Faux Nooze. She took the fight to them in that sense, and that is all to the good. Misogyny is alive and well at Faux and anything that bursts that bubble for their viewers, is to be commended.

“What happens on Fox News is relevant because they talked about infanticide for six and a half hours — six and a half hours — right before President Trump’s State of the Union. That is not the debate of what access to reproductive care is in this country.”

I am not “vendictive” about Gillibrand’s treatment of Sen. Franken. The fact is that her rush to trash a good and decient Senator simply disqualifies her to serve as the Democratic Parties nominee for President,.

To all the cowards who don’t want ANY Democratic candidate to go on FOX News; Grow a spine.

The only way you win in 2020 is to walk proudly into the lions den and then walk out wearing his skin.

ALL the Democratic Candidates who have gone on FOX have done this so far, and I have no doubt that Warren would LOVE to do the same, but she foolishly boxed herself out of that appearance to play to the progressive-gallery and now I’ll bet she regrets it.
The only way to burst the “FOXIGANDA BUBBLE” is to jump inside it and destroy it from within.

Just listen to the incredulous people who admit they “only watch conservative news” who are stunned that the Mueller Report said ANYTHING BAD about Dear Leader Trump. They are now doubting that their propaganda is the truth.
THAT is how we win in 2020. Rip off the blinders and show them the truth. Show them that “The Emperor has no Brains.” (to mix my metaphors.)

If you cannot handle the dimwit FOX News Opinionists, you will never handle THE JOB of the Presidency.

We WIN by being strong and fearless in the face of propagana and bigotry, not by running away and hiding in our own little “Progressive Bubbles”.
15% of the People who voted for Cheeto Mussolini are irredeemable and cannot be reached. HOWEVER, that leaves the other 85% of those who voted for him. They CAN BE REACHED (as Obama proved) and we MUST TRY TO REACH THEM. Don’t campaign exclusively in California or New York State, GO to Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and yes; ALABAMA, GEORGIA, TEXAS.
We need a return to the 50-state Strategy and to have candidates who are WILLING to go on hostile TV and DEFEND THEIR IDEAS. That is what the voters WANT. Someone who will stand up for what they believe.
You don’t get there by pandering to your own base exclusively.

Now, for me, I don’t support Gillibrand, but, I do support her having the guts to go on FOX and defend her ideas.
(If she gets the nomination, I WILL vote for her, however.)
