Discussion: Gillibrand Says Harassment Reform Language Stripped From Omnibus

“I can’t think of any legitimate reason to remove this language other than to protect members of Congress over taxpayers and congressional employees.”

What language? How can I know if I agree or disagree or whether it’s a big deal or not if you don’t inform me of the language at issue, TPM?

Am I to just take it as a given that I support it and am outraged about this exclusion because liberals/Dems?

So many reasons for Dems not to lend support to the spending bill; whether it’s this issue or protecting Mueller, or DACA. Time to demand something(s) in return for their support and to hold the line.

Why of course! They deserve to be protected.

And have funded pensions

And high paying jobs as lobbyists if voted out

And great health insurance

Brings to mind a song. Hit it Randy!

Gillibrand isn’t going to get anything.
After what she did to Al Franken… the hell with her.

You know, I could have eventually learned to forget that episode — but now that I see she has no idea what “begs the question” means and does not know when to use “whom” instead of “who” — well, I’ve had it: she’ll never get my support now.

“The bill would make members of Congress personally liable for harassment settlements…”

Party of Personal Responsibility™: “You can’t hold people personally responsible!”

This is a two-year period where absolutely everything that happened should be erased.

Amend the Constitution!

Amendment 28: Dotard Traitor Amendment.
If congress decides by a two thirds majority that a foreign power has placed a puppet in the presidency, and that puppet is both a dotard and a traitor and has acted in the interests of said foreign power, then all executive actions by that dotard traitor, as well as all legislative actions signed by that dotard traitor, shall be null and void.

You’re 100% correct. The outstanding issues are on the Dems side. Unfortunately, the Dems DO NOT know – or are unwilling to play hardball politics with the Russ-thugs!

Ah yes, the lazy writer’s resort. Still always better to just provide the language rather than sentences that interpret it for us. The constructive criticism stands.

Given its many poison pills, there is no reason for any Democrat to support the Trump GOP omnibus. Democrats need to ask for Senator Gillibrand’s language, protection for Dreamers (path to citizenship), and take out all the anti-abortion nonsense. Why cooperate and let Don the Con and his lackeys claim any victory?

Trump is also searching for lawyers who advertise on Fox “News”.

Where is the Women’s march group to bring focus and protest? Disappointing!

The article says what it does:

The bill would make members of Congress personally liable for harassment settlements and would draw back the secretive process currently governing claims of improper conduct.

And then the text is linked so you can see what the exact language is. Not sure what more you expect. Do you get this worked up about articles about budget items?

I don’t know if I’m ‘outraged’ but I AM sick and tired of the namby pamby BS that McConnell and Ryan regularly engage in…‘We won’t do SHT if a Democrat gets any credit for it. We didn’t spend 8 years putting down Obama to let this happen under OUR watch!’
