Well, I think he/they got the message now. This woman approves that statement,

Could we stop blaming Kirsten Gillibrand for not speaking up until now?

I mean it. This bullsh$t needs to stop.

Wouldnā€™t mind seeing her run for President some day.

Agree, though I do think itā€™s important for her characterization of these guys as jerks and a$$holes and her right to pick her battles is important to be out there, again and again, to counter all the other voices saying that if she wonā€™t name the guys, then it never happened.

And for not naming names for the voyeur trolls who insist on it.

so, ā€œfuckā€ is all spelled out, yet ā€œassholeā€ has to be censored?

I think ā€˜aā€“holeā€™ was a direct quote from her book, but I could be wrong.

Way to go Kirsten!

ā€œFucking A!ā€

I was thinking that watching her talk to Jon Stewart.

She is in a better position now if she were so inclined as to want to tell him something.
She need not dive into the swamp though and has no need to prove anything to the pigs.
Itā€™s likely the same jerks that doubt Wendy Davis regarding her admissions.

John Boener is orange, why? McConnell has a waddle on his neck, why? Ryand Paul and Donald Trump are raising squirrels on their heads, why? Mitt Romney wears magic underpants, Yechh! David Vitter likes to party with hookers and poop in his man diapers, wtf?
They all need to start explaining in full detail.

Finessed reply, culturally explicit, crosses all barriers and an approved by the Cheneys as a one size fits all rhetorical device.

Good to hear it!

too fat to be elected statewide

That happens, to men and women.

I havenā€™t seen that particular pull quote, but Iā€™ve seen the Gillibrand allegations and donā€™t have any reason to doubt their veracity. And I know the image game is definitely worse for women than men.

But look at how Al Gore gained weight after the 2000 election. He shaved and lost some of that weight a few years later, and immediately the speculation itā€™s because his fatter, hairier incarnation would not have been a successful candidate, and he therefore intends to run again in 2004.

Reminds me of a throwaway line from Futurama: ā€œā€¦To solve this problem, we have brought together earthā€™s handsomest politiciansā€¦ā€

Again, it doesnā€™t matter as much to men. Or incumbents/known quantities. Dick Cheney (or Barbara Mikulski) can look however they want, especially with age. But people running a campaign as big as NY-SEN hire image consultants and do so for a reason.

But hey, in Chris Christieā€™s America, maybe this is all changing and itā€™s not worth pointing out that the media speculate not quite tongue-in-cheek: Is America Ready for a Fat President?

It may come to pass

Al Gore was depressed after losing the election and the way he lost it. He was eating himself to hide his misery.

How come the quote in the headline occurs nowhere in the article?

I agree with that bit of armchair psychology, even if itā€™s just (pretty convincing) speculation. But when Gore got his act together (fitness-wise) and shaved the politically taboo beard, there was a lot of speculation about whether it was because he wanted a rematch against Bush in '04.

Political media, especially when covering the race or sizing up horses, makes a definitive correlation that health underscores a serious candidate. There are hundreds of (largely male due to history) examples, from the shoe polish black hair and coat disregard of Reagan and the aloof sailing sangfroid of Kennedy (and LBJā€™s assessment of JFK in '59-60 ā€“ Johnson thought Kennedyā€™s (hidden) health problems would ultimately topple the JFK campaign) to, conversely, Gore in '04, the Tom Eagleton debacle, and FDRā€™s insistence not to be shown in a wheelchair or on crutches to the general public.

Not that one. The Bridgeghazi Bandit AKA Chris Christie is toast, burnt toast.

Kirsten, Iā€™m well aware manners and upbringing remind you to be and act like a lady, but if the most evil person in America, Dickhead Cheney, can use profanity on the Senate floor you can too. Let 'er rip girl!!
