Discussion: German Police Use Water Cannons, Pepper Spray To Disperse G-20 Protesters In Hamburg

And so the weekend festivities begin.

Iā€™m looking forward to seeing how it goes with what I assume will be Trump & Putinā€™s first public handshake. Lordy, I hope thereā€™s tapes.

Not fucking helpfulā€¦and Iā€™m seriously beginning to wonder how much the whole radicalized/extremist ā€œanti-faā€ and other ā€œblack maskā€ type nonsense is being bankrolled, organized or in some way false-flagged by the very people who are supposedly their targets.

My thoughts exactly.

I thought Donnie issued an Executive Order banning all protests?

He even used a red ā€œsharpieā€ to show he was really, really serious.

I read a report where it was noted that the black-masked gangs at various protests never seemed to get arrested. That it was as if their actions were officially condoned.

Imagine that! Itā€™s as if their actions were/are right out of the playbook of the School of the Americas.

You donā€™t need direct collusion, just that sort of confluence of events that work so well to maintain the status quo. The targets donā€™t deploy their full resources to finding these folks, the police donā€™t investigate as much as they might because the resulting payoff would be minimal and the danger high. And before you know it, everybody except the normals gets what they want.

Betsy DeVos, head schoolmarmā€¦

Watching BBC and CNN A
ar DFW airport. Protests are NOT over. Protestors now chanting ā€œwelcome to hell.ā€

Normally I might agree but this is Hamburg, a place very familiar to me. It is home to the St Pauli football club and a very large, very active antifascist community with a long tradition. Really, a focal point of that crowd throughout Europe, not at all just during G20.

You might say ā€œthose people are assholesā€ and in many cases youā€™d be right, in that what they amount to is left-wing (as opposed to the usual right-wing) football hooligans. But they are the real deal. Trust me on this one.

The new headline on the front page says that organizers have declared the protest over for the day. Which would suggest that the main organizers and the police are agreed on not wanting senseless violence to give people the wrong impression. (And I think that at this point ā€œantifaā€ has become something distinct from most actual anti-fascist organizations. Which is sad.)

Uh, all of them?
