Discussion: Georgia College Warns Students About 'Unauthorized' Voter Registration Drives

Most states do that now. But, not everybody registers that way, and not everybody has a drivers license and not everybody stays at their same address. Here in Florida, and I think most if not all states, requires a person to notify the State election board when they move. Re-registering is an easy way to do that. Same thing applies to name chances for say, getting married.

Damn straight. Equal Rights, Equal Risks!

The draft is only (supposed to be) used for direct threats to the nation, in which case I want 100% of the able citizenry carrying weapons ā€“ not 50%.

I donā€™t know who ā€œauthorizesā€, but it seems to me I remember Florida singling out nonpartisan voter registration groups like the League of Women Voters and the NAACP by making the bar for handling registration forms so high that it effectively put an end to their voter registration drives.

Pshaw! I bet all you smug liberals who were making fun of Trumpā€™s supposed barely-existent ground game are feeling pretty embarrassed now.

Could be something else. Maybe a guy wants to get a college womanā€™s address and contact info for who knows what.

Anecdote alert: I know someone who got a creepy vibe from the ā€œvolunteerā€ which was quickly validated when she decided not to finish the form.

Certainly not a reason to question the legitimacy of all voter registration efforts, but something to consider.

That said, this is far from unheard of for Republican groups.

One problem is that too few are able bodied. Too fat, too weak, too dim.

Alas.

Ground game is one thing, underground is another. Rā€™s will go to any depth to suppress the vote of potential progressive voters.

This is an interesting perspective, thank you. I hadnā€™t really thought about this that much.

But what if there are people going around doing this? How insidious and disgusting. If there is someone out there with fake registration forms targeting black students, I hope they are caught and prosecuted.

This is a very interesting problem Iā€™ve never really thought of. How do we police the thousands of volunteers that are out there canvasing and doing voter drives? If even 1% were fraudsters that could be significant if they were targeting a group where Trump has 0 or 1% support (i.e. black Americans).

Is it ā€˜voter bewareā€™?

Additionally for 40 plus years they opposed building a decent transit and rail system. Plus the congressmen who represents the district Barry Loudermilk is a anti-Vaxxer who sits on the Science committee. You canā€™t make that up.

Isnā€™t this in fact a free speech issue? Seems like that to me.

But her way, as do most voter registration drives, uses paper forms. There is no way that software is involved.

It is good to give those we register the URL to check that they are registered---------

LOL ā€“ never thought about that. Iā€™m betting they already have a very strong registration and GOTV drive.

You can check your voter registration on line. And you should every year or so especially in states which frequently purge their voter rolls.
