Discussion for article #234613

Ummā€¦I donā€™t think so asshole.

Hereā€™s an article to read, if you ever re-engage with reality.

That comparison is inapt, Mr. Zimmerman.

Vile. Contemptible. Evil.

The party of personal responsibility again refuses to accept responsibility.

Professional victims, every damn one of them.

Actually, TPM, he didnā€™t compare himself to her, he just quoted her.

The headline here should have been:

ā€˜George Zimmerman Believes Shooting Trayvon Martin Part Of Almighty Deityā€™s Plan.ā€™

Why does the media keep giving this murdering bastard air time?

ā€œI believe that God does everything for a purpose, and he had his plans and for me to second guess them would be hypocritical and almost blasphemous,ā€

Yes, the magical skyperson who controls the universe is particularly and specifically interested in you personally because you are, after all, at the center of the universe he is busy controlling.

If there was a God heā€™d be busy heating up a special spot for this sick bastard.

I am OUTRAGED! How dare he!
How dare the GOPers compare themselves to MLK and Rosa Parks then scream unfair when Dick Durbin says theyā€™ve sent Loretta Lynch to the back of the bus?
If there is any human being on earth less like Anne Frank, Iā€™d like to see them. Zimmerman is a dangerous man, and clearly mentally disturbed. I donā€™t see why he is permitted to carry lethal weapons around.

This man is not so educated as to utilize such language in his vilification of a sitting president. I wonder whose hand is manipulating his mouth while someone elseā€™s utterance comes out.

Thinks heā€™s Anne Frank? Why doesnā€™t he heed Bibiā€™s call as a persecuted Jew and emigrate to Israel? As if he Middle East isnā€™t full of enough paranoid schizophrenics.

Soā€¦everything that happens is exactly what is supposed to happen and we shouldnā€™t doubt it or weā€™re second-guessing God. Wow, what a completely delusional way of looking at life. By that logic, every serial killer and evil tyrant is doing Godā€™s work and we should be praising them instead of denouncing them. And of course, that means that abortion is also part of Godā€™s plan, as well as everything else. And instead of taking control over our lives, we should just do whatever the hell we feel like and attribute it all to God. After all, itā€™s all part of His plan.

Iā€™m sure he wouldnā€™t actually agree with any of that, but itā€™s obvious that heā€™s rationalized his guilt away to hide the fact that he murdered an innocent teenager and canā€™t deal with it rationally. And the real issue here: The dude shouldnā€™t have had a gun. Itā€™s that simple.

Exactly, if I quote a famous person I am not comparing myself to them. Bait headline.

The guy is a trashy a-hole. So the media loves to print his stuff for ratings. Hey, I clickedā€¦

In reality he was not guilty of ā€œmurderā€. The DA should have charged him with negligent homicide or manslaughter. The police actually signed an Affidavit that night to indict him for Manslaughter, but the DA would not do it. The police were right. He acted irresponsibly and caused a death. Thatā€™s negligent homicide.

Zimmerman also maintained his innocence throughout the interview.

ā€œI believe that God does everything for a purpose, and he had his plans and for me to second guess them would be hypocritical and almost blasphemous,ā€ Zimmerman said. ā€œHad I have had a fraction of a thought that I could have done something differently, acted differently so that both of us wouldā€™ve survived then I would have heavier weight on my shoulders.ā€

His lawyer, Howard Iken, asked him whether he was the same man he was five years ago.

ā€œAbsolutely not,ā€ Zimmerman said. ā€œI have to have my guard up significantly. ā€¦ I still believe that people are truly good at heart, as Anne Frank has said, and I will put myself in any position to help another human in any way I can.ā€

Iā€™d comment on this, but my doctor has told me to stay away from rich foods.

To be fair, he did not compare himself to Anne Frank, he merely quoted her. I have no love for this guy, but the article title is misleading.

They allow him to carry weapons so he might ā€œaccidentallyā€ shoot himself somedayā€¦or another black?

I still believe that people are truly good at heart

Then why did you stalk and murder an innocent kid carrying nothing but skittles and an Arizona iced tea?

Scumbag.

If I could respond to a few folks here, Zimmerman didnā€™t explicitly say he was exactly like Anne Frank in every particular, or anything. But he said he shares this idealistic view of human nature with her. Itā€™s an implicit comparison, but still a comparison, to say theyā€™re similar in at least this one way. But whatever verb you useā€”ā€œinvokeā€ might workā€”itā€™s an outrageous thing for him to say.
