Discussion for article #236364
“an honest mistake.”
Also announced he’s changing his name to JEB Stephanopoulos…
My guess is, Georgie doesn’t want to have to interview Hillary in the upcoming months, so he is hoping this provides an escape route allowing him to recuse himself.
I don’t actually understand why this is wrong. . .he donated to a charitable foundation at a time before anyone associated with it was either in office or running for office. I mean, yeah, maybe when/if he interviews Hillary Clinton for something later he should mention it, but before that?
Stephanopoulos, a longtime aide to former President Bill Clinton, apologized for not publicly disclosing the donation sooner in a statement to Politico.
This has got to be one of the most ridiculous non-scandals ever. Love how the “liberal” media, once again, laps up right-wing propaganda and promotes it as legitimate debate.
Because it isn’t. It’s just more media bullshit promoting fictional “controversy” to get eyeballs/clicks.
OMG, a donation to a global charity. The inhumanity of it all.
Why? Did he lie about it? Or did he change his answer 4 times in 4 days?
That’s what I thought
Before this goes to far…talking at you TPM…the Clinton Foundation is NOT a political PAC. It is NOT a political lobbying org. It is NOT a political think tank or shop.
It is a global effort aimed at eradicating poverty, hunger and ignorance. It’s focus is worldwide. Donating to the Clinton Foundation is NOT donating to the HRC campaign.
No, it is BS for these talking heads to make millions off a position where they are supposed to ask hard-nosed questions of world leaders, and at the same time donate money to the foundations of the same world leaders. The networks and news channels should have all of their talking head “journalist” put their money in qualified trusts. These talking-head journalists make millions in salary and book deals through their access to world leaders and politicians - it’s a conflict.
So what? Where’s the fucking news here?
George and Ali are still mad at bubba.
And…this surprises no one…except Politico perhaps. I don’t really see the problem in this like some others might. Its a charity, and in 2013-2014 Hillary was not officially running for office.
To these village idiots and scandal-mongers, conflating two or more things is what they do…religiously…and boy-o-boy, do they have their reasons…Just don’t ask them to clarify what the differences are because that gives away their sad little game.
I see no problem here. Anyone with half a brain knows George has been connected with the Clintons, and the Foundation is a humanitarian enity. The work they do should attract donations from wealthy people and corporations regardless of their politics. It’s humanitarian work, not political.
Would that the billionaires and millionaires coming out of the woodwork to fund candidates were to be reported on so fully. That would be at the least Rube, Walker, Jebya, and no sense of outrage from anyone, just “Glad to see ya!”
I remember Keith Oberman getting fired for donating to Obama, I guess he should have donated to Hillary way back when!!
Randal is seizing this non-story as a reason why Stephanopoulos shouldn’t moderate 2016 debates
Absolutely! In fact, Stephanopoulos should sit on every penny he earns in case the charities he chooses to donate to have (FSM forbid) some kind of future scandal that he might mention on one of his numerous broadcasts.
And if you notice, the titter accounts somehow manage to stop at the word “Clinton”, implying to the skatethrough reader that GS gave money to a PAC or campaign. Nicely done incontinetti.
