Discussion for article #237181
This is very good news. It’s high time that the billionaires on the left start stepping up to the plate. Tom Steyer has done yeoman work, but I hope that Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and others also start contributing. As long as Citizens United is the law of the land, we cannot let the Kochs, Sheldon Adelson, and others on the right win the political war.
“Clearly, fighting the Republican efforts to limit who can vote and when they can vote will benefit Democrats, and it will benefit whomever runs for president,” Vachon told the Times.
That raises an interesting point, because the Repubs say the same thing: Hillary is interested in this only as a stunt to get more Dems to the polls.
But you know, the only way targeting Repubs’ voting restrictions helps Dems is because the restrictions have, in fact, targeted Dems. Otherwise, why should the Repubs care?
Thank goodness someone with money is supporting this effort. It’s undemocratic to stifle the vote. And those wishing to do that are surely spending a lot of money. Thank God for George Soros.
Good.
Now the wingnuts who like to point to George Soros when we bring up the Koch brothers actually have a reason to.
Well this will be high-octane accelerant poured into the loony-right Fire-Swamp of Crazy™.
Soros: $5 M
Koch: $899M.
Wait 5 minutes, GOP will turn the whine to 15.
George Soros, one of the many Democrat’s Koch brothers
Five million is chump change compared to the HUNDREDS of MILLIONS the Koch’s have pledged to swing the election.
A Hungarian spending major dollars to hold up American ideals. How low have we sunk?
Bill O’Reilly responds:
Then I guess the legal challenges will have to get by on chump change.
I’m only sorry I can’t match Mr. S. dollar for dollar.
