Discussion: Gayle King Informs Jesse Watters That 'All Black People Do Not Look Alike'

Gail King is getting real props for doing fact based interviews without a lot of sturm und drang. I like how she dropped the “I don’t watch Fox” line.
Waters is just some annoying frat boy playing the low rent bigot version of Allen Funt from Candid Camera.

This incredibly handsome young black man with a smile that will knock your socks off, is currently in my home installing some new drapes for us. Without a doubt; not all black people look alike, nor brown people, nor yellow people, nor white people. We are all individuals with our own particular traits, even for twins. This young man’s gorgeousness, quiet charm, smile and essence of being has brightened this last of the dreary winter days so much.
We are all beautiful in our own ways.

OK…there might be a few exceptions…looking at you Mitch.

They don’t even kind of look alike. Not even sorta, kinda in the right light. They have totally different skin tones and hairstyles. It’s like confusing Lester Holt and Samuel L. Jackson.

Whaaaaaat??? And here I thought this Lester Holt thing was a new role for Samuel L Jackson. :open_mouth:

In all fairness to Jesse, can we also specify that even pasty-faced ratf*ckers like him don’t all look alike?

LOL. Watters is an odious little shit who needs a trip out back to the woodhouse almost as bad as Hannity and Carlson.

That being said, it IS a cognitive psychological phenomenon that people have an easier time recognizing/distinguishing faces from their own race (“own-race bias” or the “other-race or cross-race effect”). It’s who you were raised around and encoded to and, because different races have more or less variability in different features, we learn to use those features to distinguish between individuals. Black people have more variation in skin tone for example, while white people have more variation in hair color, so those become cues for identification. Obviously though, it’s not such a strong influence over perception that any normal idiot can’t tell two people apart who are sitting right in front of them. It’s more like something that you might want to understand when assessing something like eye-witness testimony or people picking someone out of a line-up.

You should watch the interview where the idiot interviewer mistakes Samuel L. Jackson for Morgan Freeman.

Hoo Boy did he let the interviewer have it!

OMFG hahahahahaahahahahahahahahahaha!!! The look on his face right at the very beginning when the interviewer first starts getting it wrong says it all: he knows EXACTLY what’s happening the instant it starts…“oh hell fucking no…not this shit again…”

King said she privately thanked Perino for correcting Watters, and made one simple request to her: “Could you let the rest of your colleagues know that all black people do not look alike?”

When told, Jesse Watters appeared to be totally confused and bewildered, and could be heard muttering, “Well, they all look alike to me …”

Yes, I am certain that some psychological phenomena predispose some people towards racism.

This is still racism.

And some people learn how to overcome racism. Too many do not.

I love those goofy upper class white women who can’t get enough of the tanning bed and bleach in their hair. Crack me up every time.
