Donald Trump approves of this bankruptcy.

It does hinder those searching for Hulk Hogan penis trivia.

Trump: Media must always oblige the powerful or face devastating consequences. We always win.

The lesson here is that it was a pretty inexpensive and effective way for Peter Thiel to get revenge on and silence his media critics. Expect more like this in the future from similar thin-skinned billionaires (and multi-millionaires). Gawker may be more-or-less expendable, but our cherished freedom of the press is subject to attack - Peter Thiel provided the playbook.

I don’t know so I’m asking. It seems to me there’s a very low barrier to entry in terms of Gawker’s business model as an on-line blog/news service.

How hard would it be to just restart the same business under a different incorporation?

It depends on funds…

plus if they are trying to duck a lawsuit payment…

Sort of like Trump Institute, Trump University, Trump Wealth Institute and Trump Entrepreneur Initiative?

To be followed by the Trump Psychic Friends Network, Praise the Trump, and The Church of Trump. They’ll be great, really classy.

Edit: Better marketing: The Church of Trumpology.

If it were anyone other than Gawker, I’d feel bad for them…

You know, I see a lot of people concerned about that rich guy using the Hogan case to shut Gawker down. But very few people recognizing that even if Theil hadn’t bankrolled the suit, this is the exact result that would have come from it. Because what Gawker did was wrong, and the fine was imparted onto them due to what they did.

The only reason I am sad to see Gawker go under is because I had hoped they would drive Buzzfeed (the route of all evil) out of business. Let the Gawker lesson not be restricted to the dangers of oligarchs, but also not to invade the privacy of individuals and publish their leaked sex tapes. This goes double to all those ex-boyfriends who are thinking about posting revenge porn videos. You will be destroyed in a lawsuit.

I should have known…if there’s any sort of scam-ish idea available, well, Trump’s already walked that path.

I am not shedding a tear for Gawker. Posting the video of Hulk Hogan’s having sex with his best friend’s wife was wrong. Justice was served. Too bad, Gawker could not really be held accountable since they have filed for bankruptcy.

Gawker should make money by selling its own sex tape. Oh, yes, my friend, corporations are people too. (But maybe not pretty enough for porn.)

Do NOT give him any ideas.

Probably not much danger of that - he’s got nowhere to process and store them.

According to Ben Carson, Trump can’t have ideas as long as his mouth is moving since he can’t think while talking.

So no worries about Trump getting ideas.

What about the ebay founder that wanted to help out Gawker? Couldn’t he buy it and pay out the $130 million owed. It’s not that I condone Gawker publishing the sex tape, it’s that they own a few other sites I like and it’d be wrong to see all of those people lose their jobs over this.
