If only it didn’t take a Special Counsel to catch every all-American crook who behaves this way.
“Down goes Manafort! Down goes Manafort!!”
Not sure if this is just coincidental but it seems like manafort had bank accounts in almost all the countries that supported the lift of russian sanctions (Magnitski Act) of which trump was supportive of in exchange for a piece of the natural gas line…and of which cohen, papopolis and gates traveled too…prior, during and after the campaign…
Hmm I wonder who else might have dabbled in shady offshore accounting to reduce his tax liability
And, oddly, the judge in this case asked that the prosecution not ask questions related to Gates’ travels in an effort to “speed up” this already almost comically fast trial.
According to Politico This was followed by a rather testy back and forth between Judge Ellis and prosecutor Greg Andres.
Reduce? Evade?
Potato - Potahto.
The Great Plumpkin?
Chef gates is cooking Manafart’s goose.
I really really want to see Trump’s tax returns. If he wasn’t already doing this, or something similar, he’s making sure Jared takes notes for future endeavors in cooking the books. After all, didn’t Trump say that people who pay taxes are idiots?
Gates is detailing exactly how the Trump Organization has been breaking the law ever since the 1980s. No wonder Donald is so crabby and frightened. His deepest secrets are out. All his criminal and unpatriotic financial dealings are now under a microscope being examined and sorted out by law enforcement both federal and state.
Be careful of not vetting those you hire to run your campaign,. Make sure they are not just like you.
A lot of Trump’s buddies are either pissed off or scared as hell at this point. I am delighted at all the people who are going down with the SS Trump, all because the big baby just had to run for president.
Gates: Offshore Accounts, Loans Were A Way To Reduce Manafort’s Tax Liability
Well, duh.
More importantly, they were also 1) A way to break the law, and 2) A way to conceal breaking the law.
That’s what the bankruptcies were all about. Not only did it save him money by being able to shaft minor creditors, it also introduced him to the Russian Mafia and a way to evade taxes. The best of both worlds apparently for Donald and now the NRA and RNC.
DeLay might have created K Street corruption, but Putin laid the trap that all the Republicans have now stepped into and can’t explain their actions without going to jail. .
Judge Ellis doesn’t want anyone to cast aspersions on criminals?!? There are good people on both sides of the law?
“That makes it even clearer to me” that it’s not relevant, the judge interjected. “It doesn’t matter whether they’re good or bad or oligarchs or crooks or mafia or whatever. … You don’t need to throw mud at these people.”
I wonder how Paulie is holding up as he witnesses his best boy unraveling his criminal empire.
No, I don’t think so. His point is that no one is in that courtroom to defend those people. You don’t get to call them names just because you can. (My opinion, your opinion, of them is NOT the law.) Further, it is established, settled law in the US that there is no “guilt by association”, cases are tried on facts, evidence, not on slandering people who are not on trial, and not part of the case.
Fear not. The facts, alone, are more than enough to put Mr. Manafort away for longer than any human has ever lived.
The Giant Peach?
At the rate Gates is going, he’ll have a Michelin rating by tomorrow…
Hard to over-emphasis that particular point. Wilbur and Donald and all the rest of these folks are now facing the fact that Mueller has access, even without cooperating witnesses, to all this stuff. I mean, what are the chances that Michael Cohen had information about Trump’s off-shore accounts in that trove of documents?
We might survive this kleptocracy if we can root it out right quick.
