Yeah, because a stateā€™s right to deny the ability of people to vote based on a subjective assessment that their signatures are inconsistent is a pressing national issue.

The confusion is just as effective as the voter suppression efforts themselves - thatā€™s the scary part of this BS, and isnā€™t coincidental.

I am beginning to think that Republicans are actually happier to steal elections than win them by fair means. (Maybe that is a purely academic question.)

So does this mean the judgeā€™s new rules stay in place during the appeal process?

The filings said that by ā€œadding brand new, untested processes ad hoc to long established election procedures at the eleventh hour, it will introduce uncertainty and confusion under extreme time pressure at best, and it risks undermining the integrity of the Stateā€™s election process.ā€

Not exactly. It just means that people who are registered to vote can vote.

GOPers only platform is FEAR!!!

FEAR the BLACKS!!! Be very SUSPICIOUS of themā€¦

GOPERS remind white voters that if they have to share government services with people who are not white! Why let whites tax dollars pay for same government services for BLACK citizens?

Well GOPERS, I will tell you why! BECAUSE BLACK CITIZENS PAY TAXES TOO!!! So all of you should shut the fuck down with this voter fraud bullshit!!!

NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATIONS, you POSā€™

Just to be clear on this matter, this is

ā€œa stateā€™s unlimited right to arbitrarily deny the ability of people to vote based on a subjective assessment.ā€

Exactly what is the risk?
What could happen if
George Raymond Smithā€¦ turned in a ballot envelope signed as George R. Smith ?

Funny if George was paying a bill and signed his check G. R. Smith or Georgie Smith or G. Ray Smith ā€¦ there would be no issue cashing it.

ā€¦ and didnā€™t Jimmy Carter sign legal docs as Jimmy as well as James Earl Carter?

Had the same question, which should have been addressed in the article.
Not a lawyer, but unless Kemp can get the appeals court to stay the decision within the next 2 weeks, the court decision will stand.

I will assume that this statement isnā€™t really a reply to me, since I am not a Republican, nor a supporter of their policies or candidates.

No need to take it personal!

Just stating my opinion to your comment. I admit my views of the repugs are a bit edgy. But I call it as I see it.

The Internet is an ideal method for mass miscommunication (and misunderstanding).

Well if you happened to fall on the other side of the fence, so be it.

I stand by my response to your comment

They see this as ā€œwarā€ ā€¦ and subscribe to the ā€œby any means necessaryā€ line of thinking ā€¦ and they fervently cling to the total demonization or their opponents in order to justify any and all underhanded tactics.

I do agree that doing things last minute is problematic but it is not like they would make an effort to help these people in the meanwhile. They are still pushing that fraud would become rampant and willing to sacrifice votes in the process.

All while there is a major conflict of interest problem going on. Since the guy controling this is running.

ā€œAllowing individuals other than the voter to ā€˜confirmā€™ the voterā€™s identity merely by having the voterā€™s identification plainly introduces a risk of fraud"

Yes, this seems like a very productive and likely way to commit voter fraud. /s
