Idiot clown gets 1/4 of the GOP primary voting base by being idiot clown. That might actually be encouraging. ~1/4 of ~1/2 of those motivated enough to vote in a primary ain’t a lot (although I know there were other, even nuttier idiot clowns running).

This is Georgia. His appeal is to the rural base. As usual, it will be a faceoff between rural and urban. There’s a reason Deliverance was set in Georgia.

It’s a runoff, which means the Republicans will get the more hardcore of their base out, which helps Kemp. It’s also Georgia, and there are plenty of crazy conservatives that will fall for the idea that Cagle is too moderate. With a black woman running on the Democratic side, the crazies are going to want even more to put up the most conservative candidate they can, with the idea that he will not be afraid to dominate her. All of this helps Kemp…the question is if it helps him enough to overcome the Republican party that will not want him as the candidate.
If Kemp wins, then it’s very likely Abrams wins…Kemp doesn’t seem capable of holding back, and when he debates Abrams you can bet that he’ll say something that fires up the Democratic, black, and female vote against him. We can only hope things turn out this way.
