Brian Kemp: âThey turned me into a newt!â
Except security is so bad there is no way they can do that. This is a failure of Kemp that he is trying to deflect. Why TPM cant put this out there is beyond me.
HmmâŚwho to believe? The Party of Watergate and Russia-gate/Wikileaks-gate or the Party thatâs perennially victimized by dirty tricks?
The Party of dirty tricksters like Donald Trump, Paul Manafort, Rudy Guliani, Roger Stone, and Mitch McConnell or the Party of Barack Obama?
This move reeks of desperation, as if both sides do this. They donât.
The entire Republican sphere is looking like that. It is one of the things that gives me hope this week. Dumb ass, easily visible horse hockey being thrown about gratuitously. It speaks strongly that they are in deep trouble. But it also says that if they succeed, they feel there will be no repercussions (Keep that in mind over the coming days).
I know Iâm an old fart, but I long for the days when an election was decided by the issues.
Greg Palast (https://www.gregpalast.com/) and Peter Wade (https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/brian-kemp-340000-voters-748165/) have good writeups on Kempâs attempts to keep voting machines hackable but only accessible to GOP voters.
Well, Trump is the issue.
This stuff makes banana republics look good by comparison.
And theyâve known that for a long time and did nothing. So why now all of a sudden? Oh waitâŚ
âbut has offered no evidence to support itâŚâ
You donât say. We can expect a little evidence when? Keeping in the Python spirit of @occamscoin, âFuck off!â
This makes no sense. The âlegal teamâ finds someone tried to hack the online registration? Wouldnât the IT team (assuming Kemp knows what that is) announce this?
âworking with our private sector vendors and investigators to review data logs.â Sounds like there is no there there, and they are going fishing. I hear fishinâ is good in Georgia.
I long for the days when an election was decided by the voters.
ok, and show us the evidence for obamaâs forged birth certificate while youâre at it
but he didnât get better
This investigation serves two purposes. It allows Kemp to do damage control after someone gave the ACLU information it can use in its legal battle with Kemp (proof that shotgun boy isnât doing his sworn duty). It also gives Kemp to opportunity to come back later and claim the Dems DID hack the system and stole the election (although that means admitting his own incompetence/neglect, Republicans are good at using their own short comings as excuses).
Read Joshâs blog on this and go to the report he links. The Dems discovered a possible breach, ran it by experts who confirmed, all without actually breaching but based on available code. They ended their investigation by confidentially reporting the problem to Kempâs office. Kemp turns around and claims the Dems hacked the system, thereby alerting all and sundry that this was doable. Venal, vicious, stupid and potentially criminal. I would hope that providing public guidance on how to hack the voting system days before an election would in some universe amount to obstruction of voting rights.
A friend of mine used to date a guy that was constantly accusing her of screwing around on him. She wasnât.
But guess who was actually doing the cheating.
Aka: our inhouse resources are incompetent and/or insufficient.
Shorter Kemp? Damn! Only we and the Russians were supposed to know about that! How am I gonna rig the election now?
There is some guilty knowledge which led Kemp to wipe the servers the last time around.
